When I bought mine, I had to try about 10 different shops before I found a comfortable fit (I bought in a ski-resort).
Sizes and shapes seem to vary considerably from brand to brand. Unfortunately, this can be a bit of a hassle and can result in you paying a littel extra for a helmet but if it doesn't fit right, it will drive you mad and you will probably stop wearing it!
I would totally agree with this post. I spent a lovely half hour or so in a specialist ski shop at the dry slope trying on helmets, before I found one that fitted perfectly (and only cost £35). Just make sure you bring your goggles as well to ensure they are compatible.

Ally Apparently the one you bought is only suitable for people being fired out of a cannon & not for skiing, that's why it was cheap you only use it once.

Have a look @ swimbabes.co.uk. They have a section for snow wear & do kids helmets for under £20.
Alternatively if you have a decathalon shop near you, their helmets are quite reasonable.
