Hi All
Trusting that there are many of you that have your own equipment I am asking the question as to how often should you get your skis either waxed or serviced. From a personal point of interest my skis were skied on for 2 weeks last year (from new), therefore I had a full service inc waxing prior to my first trip this year. I have now skied a full week, in fairly firm conditions. I am off again next week & was thinking do they need any treatment, such as a waxing. Many thanks in advance.

Its sounds like they may need, or could do with a waxing.
I have had 2 separate week skiing since last year and had them waxed at the end of the last one. Its always good to get them done as much as possible i think. Protects them and makes for better smoother gliding.

You will need to at least wax and check out the sharpness of your edges, you will possible need to rewax during the week depending on conditions but the feel of the skis will tell you this.

Thanks guys, will book in for a wax, think the edges will be fine, if not i will be using the 'I lost an edge' excuse when i stack it.

Invest in a diamond stone only small and fits nicely in your pocket

If the skis were used for 2 weeks with only the storage wax to glide on, I expect they need some TLC. If you had them prepped before using them (hot boxed or hot wax scraped and fresh wax) then a simple hot wax and scrape should be fine. If you give them to a ski shop they will likely put them through a machine which will remove base and edge material, effectively reducing their life.

Bandit, they went through the machine for a full service last month, prior to my week away. Going to get them waxed as slopes were not ideal last time, fairly icy.
