Hi everyone,
I've just been offered a weeks free accomodation in Bourg-St-Maurice, trouble is, getting there!! On a budget.
The airport of choice seems to be Lyon, due to flights being cheaper than going to Geneva or Chambery. The problem is the cost of getting from the airport to BSM. The cheapest option would appear to be hiring a car for a week @ over £250 with snow chains! This, unbelievably, is cheaper than a one day hire to BSM followed by another one day hire to get me back to the airport.
Does anyone have any advice as I don't really want to hire a car for a week to cover two journeys of 2½hrs each.
In anticipation & with thanks,
Slime.

Why don't you get the Eurostar from London? Or are you starting from somewhere other than England?

Hi AllyG,
thanks for the quick response.
The Ski Train runs overnight on Fridays & also on Saturday mornings.
I'm aiming to leave early Thursday morning.
Any other thoughts,
Slime.
P.S. There are two of us travelling.

You can get to Bourg St Maurice from London other than on a Friday or Saturday, but not direct. You have to change in Paris, and either get the night sleeper train to Bourg, or get a day train and change again (in Chambery Challes I believe).
Maybe you could try phoning RailEurope.co.uk and ask about it? We've changed in Paris several times but not yet taken the sleeper from Paris to Bourg.
