September snowfall has been reported in Canada and The Alps with snowfall also posted on the other side of the world in New Zealand as the seasons change in the northern and southern hemispheres.
Up to 20cm of snowfall has been reported above 3,000m altitudes in the Alps, a welcome respite after months of above average temperatures to high altitudes had melted most snow cover from glaciers.
Solden, where the 26-27 ski season is set to start in three weeks, reported the 20cm fall. Passo Stelvio, the only one of the summer ski areas that closed due to the impact of the heat last month to have reopened, was one of those showing a fresh white coat on its web cams this week.
Across the Atlantic fresh snowfall was also reported at Canada's Marmot Basin (pictured top) whilst in the southern hemisphere ski areas in New Zealand reported spring snowfalls of up to 20cm. Broken River is pictured.
