Mostly applicable to French and Swiss ski areas in the Northern Alps, but do check your location / destination.
As we said in our Snow Forecast for The Alps post yesterday :- widespread snow, that will be heavy in places, is expected across wide areas of the French and Swiss Alps tomorrow.
The Savoie's traffic information site ( http://savoie-route.fr/ ) has this to say...
Snow announced on roads to ski resorts saturday the 2nd of january midday. Difficult traffic conditions expected. Car special equipements needed (chains or snow tyres). We advise to leave the ski resort before 9 AM.
...and if you're on your way into the mountains; be prepared for disruption and plan to avoid it! 8)
