If I book a ski holiday now and there is no snow in resort can I cancel it and back my money back or is it gone???

No. You book, you take the risk. If they dont open a single lift all week you can get your lift pass money back. Cancelling a holiday will incur whatever the operators T&Cs dictate, which close to departure means you lose the lot!
You need to be careful where you're considering going and when though.

Generally, if the resort is closed due to lack of snow, they will bus you to the nearest place that does. Usually a glacier, and if that's the only resort for miles, expect queues.
