Does anyone know if we will need snow chains to drive to Sierra Nevada from Granada? Where can you hire them from?

Had a lovely day in the Sierra Nevadas a few years ago as an escape from a Feb. half term coastal hol.
Great fun, roads no sign of snow even right up into the station.
If I remember rightly the resort seems to be a low one and a higher one.
I suppose snow chains could be needed for the higher one if it had just dumped but, if it were me, I wouldn't bother.
Just do a good weather check the day before in case of unforseen problems.
Enjoy ...

I've just bought some as technically I believe it's illegal t not be carrying them....and it is thinking about snowing. However, as Husband is already effing and blinding at them and they're only lying on the living room floor I'm rather hoping we won't need to use them

Don't know the rules in Spain, just talking about personal experience.
