I wear a bobble hat outside all winter, including walking around ski resorts and I am very much in favour of supporting the bobble. I am very fond of my bobble hat :D

I don't think bobble hats are dying out though, they're just being temporarily replaced by helmets whilst people are actually on skis/snowboards.

Take photos now Tony. You need to build an archive quickly. From my experience this year, the Lidders are taking over and soon the bobble will be a dim and distant memory. I'd say the Lidding rate is now up to around 90%! That really reflects an incredible change in behaviour in a very short period of time (and all without any nanny State interference!)

More bobbles and assorted soft tops around the 3V's this Xmas than lids - a very positive sign.

Mind you probably like many things - soft tops come into their own in the warmer weather - we need an Easter apraisal of this.

I've asked people to post photos on the homepage, and got some good ones already.
From what I saw in Die Schweiz, I agree about the Lidders taking over on the slopes, but you can't wear a lid off the slopes without looking like Belgian riot police, so they only have a VERY limited purpose in life.
BTW, I think the lidding is up BECAUSE of the Nanny State, or at least the media hype over a couple of deaths on the slopes.

With the airlines being luggage unfriendly, my bobble will take up less space & be lighter than a lid, can you get one to fit in the hand luggage guage. :shock:

I took 3 on my last trip, you can't take one helmet without getting in a pickle or having no space to pack anything else.

You could always wear your lid (or up to 3 beanies) along with ski boots & jacket to save on your baggage allowance!

However - you can only wear one bobble hat. If you wear two security might think you are in disguise - wearing budgie smugglers and walking on your hands.

I was only just thinking that as I now wear a lid, my poor bobble will miss out on all the action, so I suggest that any unwanted bobbles are made into accessories for helmets. Like the little animal ears you get for bike helmets :)
