Corvara accommodation in March

Hi,

We would like to go skiing to Corvara in Dolomites in March.
If we are correct there are no package holidays from the UK :?:
The only UK based catered chalet operator, Colletts, are fully booked in March
Could you recommend a place to book an accommodation in Corvara?
Also could you advice on best flight and airport transfer options from London?

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,
Re:Corvara accommodation in March

About 5 years ago we flew Gatwick-Verona with BA Saturday-Saturday and stayed in a lovely hotel called the Arlara. Great hotel, great food etc. and with a pool BUT although it is right on a blue piste which is great for the skiing, the uphill slog back up to the hotel in the evenings was a real killer. In other words, check the location carefully! We found taxis very busy early evening due to everyone finishing the Sella Ronda circuit in places other than where they had started from. One of our party (the organiser ironically) was injured and had to go home early and this was organised via Brescia with Ryan Air. I think there is another smaller airport nearby but can't remember the name.

Hi Jastem,

Thank you for your tip :)
I'll check this hotel.
I've heard that Corvara has many easy blue runs, for my wife of course, and some nice eateries.
Is it also your opinion?

Regards,
Re:Corvara accommodation in March

I seem to remember some lovely blue runs but also one particular blue which had an annoyingly long flat part which required a lot of poling! We ate in the hotel every evening but had excellent lunches on the mountain. German is widely spoken in this area by the way.

Thank you for a reassurance.

I thought it is rather nice there.
I will lent my poles to my wife for that long blue run ),
I've also heard there is a lovely long run from Marmolada glacier with stunning views accessed from nearby Arabba.
Did you make it to Arabba/Marmolada?

Cheers,

Re:Corvara accommodation in March

All the scenery in this area is quite stunning :D
One run I do remember enjoying is a red down to Selva called (not sure of spelling) Dantercieppes. We enjoyed doing the Sella Ronda circuit - it took most of a day including coffee and lunch stops.
Hopefully another J2skier will be able to give a fuller account of the area than I can remember.

Yeah, we must do Sella Ronda.
I hear that it can be done in both directions.

Of course coffee breaks are essential )
And you can't beat Italian food :!:
Thank you once again,
Regards,
