Re:3v current conditions?

Pistes are generally firm all over. Icy lower down (not surprisingly), not bad higher up. Good snow to be found off piste with a bit of searching. Been properly cold the last few days (-15ish).

29th is a while away yet so all this could change, however the long range for this week is cold and clear so I would imagineby later this week the pistes will be... ...firm.

Thanks that's the impression I had. Where is all the bloody snow? I really hope we get some fresh to freshen the slopes up.

Re:3v current conditions?

The temperatures are seriously cold though so thats why it probably hasnt snowed. If it warms up in the next few days then i can imagine it will snow like hell (except an icey hell)
I went to Spain under the same conditions when it was well below freezin and mid week it dumped it all over the slopes once it got a tad warmer. Epic snowing on the fresh stuff :-)

Re:3v current conditions?

returned this morning from st martin. first time in 3V and returned somewhat dissapointed!! fantastic ski area but what snow that is there is old and very very icey.
talked to an instructor on the lift and he said there had been no snow to speak of since before xmas and it had been raining since then at top of la masse. best conditions were high in vt. I imagine the piste bashers have had a difficult time with some runs bashed over night but the following night it was clear they had spent time on other runs. unfortunately the pisted runs were crushed ice rather than decent snow so imagine the are would not be much fun for the beginers and the ice that was almost every where would be challenging for anyone but good intermediates. there is another thread on ice which really would tie in with the conditions we have had over the last 6 days. The locals do not believe there is any snow forecast over the next 5 days that would change the conditions. Off piste was tracked and then frozen so that was not much fun and was so looking forward to putting my enduros through their paces that i hired. several blacks were closed and those that were open were very heavily moguled and icey. also some of the greens and blues had grass showing through.. so if you like icey conditions you will love it otherwise have a word with the powers to bring some white fluffy stuff or make sure those edges are in tip top condition.

one thing i should add is that we had blue skys all week so we still had a great week albeit very cold..circa -10 to -15 at higher levels
