It is my belief that this above item, photographed in a suitably snowie setting, counts as a Bobble hat !!

It was bought for me by some guests I was guiding so they could see me :roll:

I like bobble hats :D

My husband and I wear them all winter out on the farm. Mine is a very fetching hand made one (not by me though!), but I don't have a camera to show you what it looks like.

They are also very useful for handling barbed wire if we forget our gloves.

For what it's worth I genuinely don't have a bobble hat to post. I do have a wide variety of other types though, woolly, beany, peaked, flat cap, pork pie (girly version) just no damn bobbles! Perhaps I could borrow my bruv's Mrs one for a pic.

Do ears count as bobbles? It does have bobbles at the end of the strings. It hasn't been taken skiing yet. Only bought it at the weekend.

Mekka that doesn't count, a bobble hat has a bobble on top of the hat, but what it does do is count as a dodgy ski hat ...... perhaps we should start a new thread :lol:

Alright I'm getting close to being rumbled here. Here's the story...

I've had an obsession with hats for far longer than I've been skiing. Last year my OH decided we should try helmets. This year he made me buy one. It's probably sensible because I am generally either very lucky or very unlucky in life, but rarely in between. I don't mind this too much as it makes life interesting. I am the type of person who would either fall head first on to the only exposed rock for miles with disastrous consequences, or on the other hand I could be the person that falls down a 50ft cliff and has a beer in their hand half an hour later. I don't really fancy taking my chances on which side of the force will win whilst skiing. I'm not a closet bobbler as such, I love all hats.

Now then, as chief Bobbler round here, I will be the judge of what is and what isn't a bobble.
There are 2 criteria:
1. The hat should be knitted or made of a wool like material
2. There should be a distinct bobble (or pom pom) attached to the TOP of the hat.

Any hat with tassles or pom poms attached to the "ears" does not qualify.

Therefore, I am sorry to say but Alistair and Dave Mac do not qualify as actual Bobblers, but their support on the campaign is most welcome ) Bobbles should not get confused with Beanies :roll:

You can easily make a bobble - we had to do it in Primary school, and then you could sew it on your hat and satisfy these very strict bobble rules :D

Would those who need a reminder of their name - hang on if they cannot remember their names they'd forget they are members, so ..

And what limits?

What about someone wearing the remains of a poor unfortunate animal on thier heads (intentionally, sounds Like Emma could end up with a Marmotte on her head quite easily).

So are MadHatters to be an exlusive tribe or an inclusive loose confederation?

Interesting, as I qualify for the rebel alliance as well as the hat free skiing club, depending on the weather and what day of the week it is.

OldAndy ummmm... an inclusive loose confederation that joins in an appreciation of hats and a rejection of rules. We will let people who don't wear hats join but they will have to do a secret wink so we know who they are (cos they won't be wearing a hat).

As I see it the Mad Rebell Hatters Alliance or Mad Hatters Rebel Alliance (MRHA or MHRA - hmmm both sound like questionable diseases) is more a philosophy of life rather than a strict code where you would be thrown out for having you left trouser leg rolled down. So, in my view (without prejudice etc etc, and have passed to my legal dept. to make sure I am not leaving myself open to any liability) if at heart you believe you are a Mad Hatter then I think you should join.

But wearing a helemt ???? :(

Emma, I don't own a silly hat, as yet however, when skiing in Sauze two years ago, the group had a wig day. I had a pukka beach bum/rasta dreadlocks wig. This proved a great hit with the locals and when stopping for a drink in one of the mountain huts the staff put reggae music on and one of the Chef's appeared from the kitchen to try it on. :D I will see if I can find it and post a picture.

I have a recollection of a man walking in to a mountain cafe where I was having a drink wearing a raggamuffin wig when I was in Sauze a couple of years ago, and putting some banging reggae on.

Morning Tony, It could have been :shock: As i recall we went the first week in February and the snow, for that area of Italy, was very good that year. The hut was above the Sportina area with a name that slips my mind but I have a picture of it and will post it in the near future. That was a great trip and brill skiing :D

Hmmm, I was there in Feb a couple of years ago with a group, the year after I went with my mate for the first time to Sauze.
We always stopped at the same cafe above Sportinia, family run place with nice food.
It can't be just a coincidence. I do believe I may have met AlistairS, sort of, without even knowing it.
