Helmet Camera's

my friends and i usually get a lot of great footage together of our skiing/boarding exploits, and knock out a dvd of it, have a helmet camera this year, well 2 of the group do, so should be really good especially in the snow park, rails etc and the off piste stuff, i was wondering how seriously people take documenting their trips, its cool having a beer at the end of the day going over what you got down on film, i just feel its quite cool to look back on things especially when your older and have your own children etc.. people's thoughts???

Re:Helmet Camera's

It's great having a helmet cam. A mate of mine got one 3 seasons back and we did alot of shooting. We did find it made us blast down runs as oppose to carving , the result being some great high speed wipeouts "caught on camera". Like you say, when you back to your hotel and have a few drinks,it's good for a chuckle to watch the wipeouts. Always good to review it before getting back home as sometimes the language can get colourful or references to how fit some "french bird" looks in the lift que.

Enjoy

ps. One thing i must say, is that non skiers/boardersdon't don't find it that interesting watching your creative masterpiece.

Those dreaded words - come round and watch our holiday video? And you get a silent tour of the hotel room, view of snow capped mountain off balcony.....

Though, once forced into watching an unedited video of my Mum's ski holiday we were treated to a full nude frontal when she was filming and her partner walked into shot. She swears she thought she had deleted it!

Still laugh about it now...

ha ha, yeah we have captured some drunken stuff after a few too many cold ones, last year in Chamonix we came in (3 of us, the rest had gone to bed) and decided to try and fire up the raclette machine and have some hot cheese and various types of ham, next morning my friend was asleep on the dining room table with the raclette machine still on, and we all had minor burns to our hands, reviewing the footage showed us up to be total drunken bums who talk so much rubbish when drunk,, a great night though!

as regards to non ski types liking the holiday dvd usually they are cool, and in fact a couple of friends started up skiing on the basis of watching the dvd and finally getting the fact its the best holiday you can have...

I think they produce a chest harness for some camera's, which is useful if you want to use your sticks/poles.
