Re:Alpe D'Huez Review

My favourite resort, you'll love the place.

Make sure you do the Sarenne it's one of the best runs anywhere.
If you're good skiers then you have to do the Tunnel there are few black runs like it, you haven't done Alpe D'Huez until you've skied it.

Re:Alpe D'Huez Review

I didn't do the tunnel, but I certainly did ADH. It wasn't open when we went up. I also found La Sarenne just to be a bit of a drag in the end - ridiculously long. It's more interesting at the top with its bowl and mogul field, but from then on it just seems to go on and on and on!!!

Personally I prefered the area over at Signal de l'Homme and also the runs down to Montfrais and Oz, but everyone has their own preference. I only did La Sarenne once, so maybe I need to do it in different conditions. It was blisteringly hot the afternoon we did it!

As Andy says, its a great resort and you'll love it. Make sure you go out and explore all the areas, they are all different and interesting, with good mixes of blues and reds for all abilities.

Re:Alpe D'Huez Review

Signal de l'Homme is fabulous, it gets very little direct sunlight so the snow is always in superb condition, great piste natural and little off piste bits down through the trees between the pistes.
I love that red run down to Oz, super blast.
Actually I love just about every bit of the area.
Another great run is the un-pisted La Foret run down to Villard Reculas.
Oh and then there's Col de Cluy, steep bumpy black run or you can catch some powder off to the sides, there's then a nice off piste bit down the gully.
The great thing about the resort is that it caters for all abilities, for mixed groups I don't think there's one better. Almost every difficult run has a easier option where you can meet up at the bottom.

Re:Alpe D'Huez Review

Oh Crikey is about as printable as I can get! Going to ADH for the 1st time this year as well. Still go ages to go (feb) but just got 'dump alert' (not from the missus but from J2Ski themselves!) and I'm mega excited - pretty sad for a nearly-40-year-old! Can't wait to ski all the above...

Granny.
