Where to go - Early Feb 2011

Good afternoon all,

New poster here so apologies if anything is in the wrong place.

My wife and I are looking to go away for 7 - 10 days at the start of February next year and, unfortunately cannot seem to afford Canada or the States, which would be our preference.

Can anyone recommend where might be best to go in Europe to keep the cost down but also to try and get the best snow available at the time.

The only time constraint is that we have to be back in the UK for 13th February cannot really fly out before 28th January.

Any advice or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Once again, apologies if anything is in the wrong place

First week in February, the snow should be at it's best wherever you go. Prices shouldn't be affected by half-term.

Stay away from the bigger names or head for satellite villages on the edge of the larger domains.

Get you flights in early to keep the cost down, but bare in mind that most accommodation will be from Saturday to the following Saturday or possibly Sunday (depending on the resort, country or tour operator).

or... Take the overnight train (lunea in France) for a couple of extra days skiing.

Self-catering cuts the costs. Have a look at

http://www.wheretoskiandsnowboard.com/features/ski-resort-prices-compared/

Volf

Re:Where to go - Early Feb 2011

Hello and welcome.

We are looking to go early Feb (although last minute this year), we normally go by train which gets us an extra 2 days skiing. Its quite hard to find anything in Europe that does more than 7 nights, I'm sure it can be done but it takes a bit of investigating (or someone who's done it and posts better information than me).
