Top six tree lined skiing resorts in Europe

If like me you enjoy skiing tree lined runs, be them steep or crusing. I thought it would be a good idea to draw on the vast experience of j2ski members and compile a list of the top six tree lined ski resorts in Europe. With my limited experience I would think that Sauze d'Oulx would make the list together with Serre Che which I am due to visit in March. What resort in your experience would make the top six? I will then hopefully be in a position to make the top six list.

Thanks
Alistair :-)

Re:Top six tree lined skiing resorts in Europe

Meribel and la Tania has some great tree lined runs, and also Champousson / Morgin in switzerland has some very good tree lined routes... all though these are relatively small areas.

Re:Top six tree lined skiing resorts in Europe

Thanks Crispyapplepie,
What % of the ski area is made up of tree lined runs? Perhaps I should have clarified the % area of at least 25% of the total ski area or more.
Would Meribel, la Tania, Champousson and Morgin have at least 25% of tree lined runs?

Re:Top six tree lined skiing resorts in Europe

Schladming in Austria is great for tree-lined runs. I would say that approaching 80% of the runs are tree-lined. It's lovely. Skied there last February in fantastic conditions. The ski area extends over four big mountains and all four are similar - if you like trees, it's the place for you. The peaks are above the tree line, so there's a bit of variety. Sauze is OK for trees, but not in the same league as Schladming or many of the other lower lying Austrian resorts.

Re:Top six tree lined skiing resorts in Europe

Borovets in Bulgaria has masses of trees. It's really pretty

Courchevel has also got quite a lot although I don't know what the percentage is. And I definitely saw trees in Zell am See.

Not sure about percentages, but I seem to remember some fantastic tree lined runs in the Madonna/Folgarida/Marilleva area in the Dolomites.

Definitely agree re Serre Che and Schladming.

Re:Top six tree lined skiing resorts in Europe

Trying to name the top six is very hard, as so many of them have a snow line which is very low so often not good for skiing due to snow quality.

But, for me, Les Arc/La Plagne which make up the Paradiski area have at least 6 large forest areas, some quite high at 1800 - 2000m so often in bad light very good to ski. So this would be one of my top six.

Re:Top six tree lined skiing resorts in Europe

AlistairS,
I was only joking really, about Borovets. It does have lots of trees and the pistes are beautiful but it also has lots of problems, and I wouldn't go back and ski there now, after ski-ing some of the top resorts in France.

Ally
