New ski helmet

We are going back to Alpe D'Huez this season and while we were there last season noticed quite a few new helmets have a visor rather than using goggles. Has anyone got one? Any good?

I am looking at buying a helmet this year but i don't think i would consider one with a visor.
I am guessing that to support a visor then the helmet itself would be more substantial / full face rather than the smaller, (and imho) neater open face variety.
I can get a little claustrophobic and prefer more wind in my face and as such generally prefer sunglasses. But having said that i can see that a visor would be more appealing in severe weather and for those at higher risk of falling forwards, maybe freestylers.

I suppose it will all come down to how you like them. Try one on and give it a whirl.

Sounds like it would be just like wearing a motorbike lid. If that is the case then Snapzzz is right, you would get less fresh air but probably better protection in a fall. I know which I'd rather fall of a bike with, given a choice between full face and 'P' pot. Although obviously biking and skiing are different so perhaps that's not relevant. :?

Out of interest do they come with interchangeable visors?

The ones that i have seen so for from Osbe and HMR helmets. They both have interchangeable visors which will be useful. Im guessing if you have to wear glasses they could be helpfull. A bit more research required i think.

I've just bought my first lid too - a Salomon custom air. It feels quite light, and doesn't look too bad. Does anyone know anything about it?

It fits. That's all I know really. And the fluffy ear bits come off. Sorry.

Hi I am also looking for a ski helmet with a visor, as I have got glasses and OVG goggles just kept steaming up so I decided to look for a helmet with a visor, and I just can't find it, I remember seeing one in a shop window in La plagne, so if some one can please tell me were I can buy it please

After nearly getting knocked out last year :shock: OH and I both invested in helmets. Best thing we ever did.
They are warm, very light and with the small visor on the front, keeps the sun out of your eyes if you are just wearig sunglasses. I reckon mine looks good too :lol:

The kids are all up for new ones this year as their heads have grown :roll:

I'm pretty much aware of what is going on around me, and I have found best practice to aim a ski pole at some of the idiots, it seems to have worked over the years, not been hit yet.
