Ryanair slashes European ski fares

Ryanair today launched its London Winter Ski Programme 2010/11 which offers 33 weekly flights from London (Stansted) to ski destinations in Cuneo, Grenoble, Lourdes, Salzburg and Turin.

These very popular Ski routes are available now and can be booked from just GBP24.99 one way (including taxes and charges) on ryanair.com.

Ryanair's Daniel de Carvalho, said:

"Ryanair will once again get British skiers straight to the slopes for less. With great value ski fares starting from just GBP24.99 one way, we guarantee the lowest fares and no fuel surcharge to Europe's best ski resorts. Even those feeling the financial pinch this year can get away for a great week on the piste. With fares this low seats are bound to be snapped up so passengers should book their winter ski break as soon as possible on ryanair.com."

The fares might be good value, if you don't need to carry any luggage or skis.

Skis are GBP40 each way

1 suitcase is GBP15 each way for 15 kilos

They can give the tickets away free........I won't use them, they still have not refunded my Euro50 so untill they do the boycott stands

C'mon folks, Wickers has made his stand, and we have to respect that.
Having said that, if I was O'Leary, I would reimburse his GBP50, (totally unjustified, (Ian didn't read the Ts&Cs), I would then make big publicity out of it. That is not going to happen.

The flight rates c/w easyjet, but easyjet charge much less for ski carriage, and if you work your hand baggage right, you get much more with EJ.
I have no axe to grind with Ryanair, I use them in the summer.

I only fly Easy Jet on my skiing trips, and hate ryanair, thetr web site is full of tricks, that you should conferm other services like insurance etc.

We agree on EJ, but I am not emotive about Ryanair. I agree that they seem to identify multiple charging opportunities, but, none of these are hidden, we can all read.

Ryanair and Easyjet aim at different markets.

For those who don't know the story....... paid for two bags on line but only took one, no problems at Gatwick but at Milan on the way home they decided to charge excess baggage at a cost of Euro50, they even told me to put the 4kg in another bag to avoid the charge.
They made their stand and so have I, I used to fly with them one or two times a year now I do not, I would rather walk, so now BA and Easyjet get my business.
So they not only took the cash for the second bag but made a decision to charge excess baggage I do not do business with a company like that.

You are 100% right you shouldn't fly with even if they pay you back, because it will happen again, there was a bbc panaramo re ryainair and a llot of pepole had a similar experiance, its jusy not worth the hassle

I used ryanair and easyjet over the summer to get to northern ireland, milan and brussells and although I must say I had no problems or worries with any of the flights-took golf clubs, bags, hand luggage etc on different flights, the ryanair plane didnt feel as solid as the easyjet ones!!!
still if they can get me to Milan at christmas for 100quid Ill be booking it as BA would be twice that and more.....

Ian, even though you did not strictly comply with their Ts&Cs, it does look like a rough deal. Did you do anything about it after you returned? Often a head office will override an outlying decision.

Are EJ 'better' than Ryanair?
Would like to know, have used Ryanair many times and although never had any bad experiences like Ian I always feel like I,ve been 'done' for some reason I cant explain!
I guess its little things like their stupid rules for not allowing 'pooling' of luggage weights & no recline on the plane seats.
So if you have used RA or EJ which do you prefer & why?

Personally I try to avoid using the so called budget airlines, in my experience if you are prepared to book way in advance say six months, you can bag a deal with just about all of the major airline companys. To date I have booked return flights from Manchester to Munich in Febuary for GBP98 Inc taxes & ski carriage with Luftansa.
As for Easy Jet, had to get home in a hurry from Geneva about six years ago & EJ charged 399 Swiss francs one way, short notice, empty flight. Had no choice but to pay up & put up.

For the cheap flights you have to book in advance the nearer flight date the more expensive they become 8)

I try and use BA, solid, reasonably priced and airmiles. However Easyjet just announced Geneva -Newcastle in winter which could come in very handy. It's bloody impossible to fly to Newcastle direct from Southern Germany and only marginally less from Switzerland.

Also BA extended my Gold Membership by 12 months by means of apology for the industrial action that didn't affect me in the slightest.
