Ambitions for season 2010/2011

Afer failing in reaching my goal of sixty days riding last season (managed 42) I am again thinking about what to aim for this coming winter. Don't think 60 days is gonna be so hard this time round ;)

1. To snowboard in full Highland dress on Christmas day, I reckon snowboard boots will go grand with a kilt

2. To heliboard the Monta Rosa to Zermatt via Furi, 4200m - 1650m, a full 2.5km of vertical

3. To see my girlfriend happy and confident riding red runs in her 1st season on snow (especially the very long red 7 from Plateau Rosa to Cervinia)

4. To own a Valais SkiCard NO LIMIT for year long access to 2,800km of slopes http://www.valais.ch/en/Wallis-SkiCardVS-SkiCardNolimitVS.html

5. To stay healthy enough to do it all

Anyone else got any particular ambitions for the coming season?

Respect for your 42 days, that was the same as I did. From your list, I think no 3 is by the most important~ this is your long term future. Just a shame that she is not getting to ski!

1. To achieve 6 weeks skiing
2. To wear the kilt on New Years eve in Scheffau, and maybe skiing the following day
3. Not really an objective, but similar, to own a season KitzbuhleAlpen All Star season pass ~ covers almost all of Tirol.
4. To continue to improve my ski technique.
5. To ski with Disability Snowsport people again
6. To continue to improve my German. (plenty of scope!)
7. Maybe, just maybe, to shave a few seconds off my time down the Marbachjoch.
8. To help people where I can.

I actually encouraged her to ski, as I figured she was less likely to be put off early on. But no, she wanted to ride, and will be doing her 5th lesson in Glasgow at the weekend. She will probably have better technique after a week in the mountains than I did in 2 years as I chose the "sans-instruction" course!!

As to the German, I have to put that on the back burner and learn a completely new language ) Walliserdeutsch http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walliser_German

Tino's No.4 ambition will allow him to ski on my local hill without extra charge :shock: (Must talk to lifties about this)

For me:
1. Ski 40 resort days again.
2. Improve my French
3. Face the fall line in deep snow
4. Stay injury free
5. Stay off the rocks, it' too expensive!

2. To be good at my new job.
3. To improve my French.
4. To be really confident in powder.
5. To look like I know what I'm doing on tough blacks!

I'll wear a cunning disguise, so they don't recognise me. You know, pants that dont fit, large wet t-shirt, etc. Rather than the skiing clobber I wear now. Must look odd to the kids, me dressed as a skier with my board under my arms.

Seems everyone is looking to improve language skills, the BBC has a good resource for this....

1. To have an awesome time working in Austria
2. To learn how to ski properly in powder
3. To land a 360, and perhaps more
4. To stay injury free
5. To use my already fluent German ;) hehe

1. To not allow my 10 year old to say (again) "Mum you're crap. If I can do it you can" The first time he said this was just before he made me ski the Yeti in Les Gets. He was 7. Pah.

Tino, enjoyed "Waiting for the Werb" ~ I see that Henning Wehn is on at the Edinburgh Fringe ~ will endeavour to see/meet him!

Very good ambition Brooksy, and I hope you achieve it.

For me, I want to ski more than the 1 week I currently have booked, simple as that.
I also hope to be able to visit my buddy Tino in his Swiss (swish) pad if at all possible.

Not a problem Tony, you and Mrs H will love Zermatt. Also there will be no messing about with maps and routefinding by that point, just be sure to keep up ;)

Mine is pretty simple. Two weeks. One week before Xmas and one week in Feb. I'd be a very happy bunny to get two ski holidays this year. Fingers crossed.

I have the page for the web site already made up ready to go, the problem is the Trouble and strife
thinks I will spend all the profit on lift pass and accommodation. 8)

Choose your favourite resorts, then check out the season pass cost. my Niederau season pass costs 225 eu, last year price ~ I do get a senior rate, and not all resorts would offer me this.
This year, I am looking to buy the Kitzbuhle All Star pass, 7 ski areas in Tirol, just over 500 eu. Not sure yet if I can buy online, and obtain the discount.

Wickers, season pass for LGB, about 320 Eu, if booked by mid-Dec. Thats a business expense!

Broom, ski amada may not yet have their season prices fixed yet, but more likely, they just haven't entered them on line.
It does look as though the season pass will be in the region of 600 eu, with a 70 eu discount if booked pre-december.
Send an email to the tourist office?
