Best Bet for next years late easter

Given my experience is yet to develop i would value your help on choosing a european resort for next Easter.

Because easter is late (25th April) which resorts are likely to be the best to go for?
Obviously i would rather not spend my days on slush so value your guidance here.

Judging by this year....maybe i should pencil in Scotland!

Hi Snapzz,
I know we've discussed this before...but I can't remember what the outcome was..When do your schools actually break up next Easter?

Ours break up 8th, so we could be in resort on the 9th.

I would recommend Val Thorens for skiing at that time as we went a couple of years ago and had excellent snow still.
Granted when it did snow it was raining a bit lower down (St Martin, Les Menuires) but higher up the mountain we had lovely fresh snow, and it was -20 on the glacier.
The road between Les Men and Val Thorens was actually blocked by snowfall on the 11th April for a short time.

We often go to Grand Massif in the 1st week April, but I don't think I'd go even a week later as the snow disappears very quickly once it does start to melt and it was not much fun by the time we came home this year - the 10th.

There are obviously other resorts that would be good at that time, but I am just speaking from my experience.

We are looking at 16th April onwards....... Not good eh?

Val Thorens gets no better conditions than anywhere else in the neighbourhood. I've been up on the glacier in nearby Tignes in April in slush, and skied there in July in bitterly cold temps.

Likewise Zermatt this April, Trockner Steg 2900m slush by lunchtime. Up there in August 3 yrs ago, boot top pow and -15c.

Going high is definitely will not guarantee you avoiding slush. Glacier pistes can become baked very hard during the freeze thaw. It can be much more pleasant to ski lower down once the sun has melted the top layer.

Stubai would have been a good bet today. 20cm of fresh in the valley bottom, and 50cm of new powder on top 8)
