Re:Ski bug

Try inline skating. All you need is a car park with a slight incline, and you can recreate some of the feeling, you get making turns on skis. Not only does it help to quench the withdrawal symptoms, but it will actually improve your skiing.

Dr Wickers reply : For the 2010/11 season you will need to have at least two ski holidays, beg steal or borrow it must be done if you are to battle with this
Desperate illness...... now for the down side this is not unfortunately covered on the NHS, good luck with organising your recovery

Re:Ski bug

I struggle with affliction daily, I have no turned my attention to European Glaciers, the relative value of the $ against the Euro and how to tick off the final 19 days I need to do before September to get 60 out the season.

Beer helps the symptoms but does nothing to address the underlying cause :(

Re:Ski bug

unless you can make a trip up to Scotland in the next month or so - Cairngorm still going strong!!

Open Thursday-Mondays throughout May, and into June if there is still demand, and snow (currently still about 150cm at mid station).

Best website to check out is Winter Highland.

Indoor places do serve a purpose.
I myself have booked a 1-1 lesson for my ten year old next week at the Snowdome in Tamworth. And i will be having an hour on the snow myself.
If she wasn't having this lesson i doubt i would go as it generally frustrates me as the slope is too short and it arouses feelings of sadness that i can't be in the mountains.

Yes they are expensive.

We joined as members, which gives benefits, and booked the private lesson for Megan and it cost GBP170.

The lesson being GBP40.

Membership does give 4 free sessions (GBP100 Approx) and 30 % off all future sessions so i think it is worth it in the long run. I am hoping to use the off season to get my good lady and my daughter up to parallel standard ready for next year.

Plenty of drills you can do to pass the time Wickers. Learn to carve switch, turn on one leg using both edges. Moguls, kickers and rails et al

I quite fancy learning to Telemark soon!
