Well it is Easter so what can we do for the Bank Holiday Weekend............

I am taking some of Wickers comments and I am driving to Serre Chevalier for a long weekend.
Leave at 6am Friday morning and get 3 days skiing in.
Drive back Tuesday. :D :D :D

Whats everyone else up to?

Did you decide to take chains over the Col?

Looking at the forecast for the end of this week Friday looks clear, but I think could be risky to go without.

And sods law says if you don't take them you'll need them.
Forecast is for lots of snow for Serre Chevalier tho.

We're driving down Sunday, but we're not far off the motorway (taking the chains though)

I'm playing at Ray Mears on Friday & Saturday. We've got about 100 people coming down to our site to learn all about living in the wild, survival skills etc.
Then, Sunday & Monday I need to do some serious maintenance and polishing of my boat to get it ready for the new season.

Its that time of year, for me once my ski holiday is over (boooo!) I start to think about camping/Spring getting out and about more.

As much as I'd love to ski numerous times a winter, its just not possible :(

4 nights in Madrid for me. Planned on Zermatt with the future Mrs_11, however accomodation is impossible :( So I searched for a long weekend in Lebanon to visit Beirut which has always been a dream of mine but there is only one seat left on the late flight from Frankfurt on Thursday :( Dont think she'd be too impressed to turn up from Helsinki to see me heading for one of the hippest cities on earth alone. So Madrid it is, should be right up her street given the architecture and art. Also I was there for a few hours before on the day of the bombings and the dignity and elegance of the locals left me in awe, always wanted to go back.

I am spending the weekend with the family, Stewart have a fantastic time and drive safely 8)

Car's packed (well our half is anyway), ready to rock n roll. Leaving at 1pm today, crossing 6am tomorrow morning, should be in Briancon by 8pm Friday all being well.
This is exciting!!!

Tres jealous of all those going skiing this weekend. In fact am feeling rather hard done by as have had to cancel our trip to Dorset as daughter has come down with tonsillitis.

So, that's 3 holidays and a drama for each. Last summer we posponed by a week due to daughter being ill again, Val Disere in January was only slightly hampered by car breaking down the day before we were due to get the train and now this.

That's 3, no more please.

Nelly, sorry to hear your daughter is poorly, tonsillitis is horrible.

Our pre holiday drama began about an hour ago when I received an email from LD lines saying our 6.30am ferry on Sunday morning had been cancelled.
Was a bit concerned about their reliability as the time had already changed, so am actually quite relieved.
Have now booked the Eurotunnel which always offers greater flexibility than the ferry, but of course costs more.

I've called LD Lines for a refund, but have had 2 unsuccessful attempts. Was disconnected the 1st time and waited in queue the 2nd.
It's probably everyone panicking to make alternative arrangements.

And best wishes to all for a good Easter break - whatever you're up to.

Wickers the drive was simple and so easy.
It is the way forward for the future imo.

Skiing was superb and I am sure that Tony will do another superb report but the snow fall that we had on Saturday night and Sunday was superb.

We finished the ski season in fresh powder with clear blue skies and stunning sunshine.

Superb weekend.

That's the sort of ski-ing I like too - lots of snow and sunshine.

Something has gone wrong with the way I see this site. The latest chat list is only old threads, and I have to go on to chat to see what has been posted. It's been like this for a couple of days now. Has anyone else got this problem, or is it just me? I am hoping that it is just due to site maintenance and it will fix itself.

I got ours from the Roofbox Company, they had a good choice and knew which ones would suit the vehicle, wheel arch clearance, suspension bits etc. Prices there are keen IMHO.

I would not choose Halfords, because they have a limited choice, and generally lack the specialist knowledge. I used to work for them :lol:

Web is the best option middle range chains need not pay more than GBP40
