Europe April - Where to go

Hi,
I am looking to go skiing on 3rd April for a week to Europe, I have only ever been to Alpbach in Austria in Feb and Canada so I am after some suggestions for late season, good snow (high up resort), close to the lifts and fairly decent Apres ski/nightlife :)

We have looked so far at Tignes, Les Arcs and a couple in Switzerland. we were looking for SC or bed and breakfast and have heard that France doesn't always offer great accommodation compared to Austria and places.

If anyone can give me some advise or some locations to search for goods deals, or even good websites to search for good hols I would really apreciate it :D

Thanks!!
Re:Europe April - Where to go

Might be difficult at GBP470 but I wouldn't rule out getting a late deal. No doubt someone will come up with some more suitable recommendations.

keep an eye out nearer the time though on Travelzoo.co.uk. We got a great deal a few years back. you need 1800m or higher really at that time. A few years back we went to Hotel Mainsee in St Christoph, above St Anton. St Anton was slush, but St Chrisoph considerably higher and was fab. Depends on snow of course so a late deal allows you to book according to snow conditions at the time. I'd just wait........ good luck

It's Easter week and the start of the school holidays, so I'd expect it to be busy.

With france, unless you like living literally in each others pockets, work on the number of bedrooms, not the sleeping capacity- if 4 of you, go for a 2 bed apt or 2bed + cabin/alcove, not a 1 bed, or studio.

Any of the Tarantaise resorts are likely to still offer good skiing that week unless there's a March heatwave!

Book somewhere on the Skiworld website, they have late delas, you'll always find something sub GBP500 the week before. I went to Verbier first week in April with them for GBP260 catered chalet and flights inc 2 years ago.

Serre Che has a good website with plenty of accommodation available, its usually cheaper than most of France, and a lot nicer too. Its reasonably snow sure too.
