doing a ski season

Looking for a few opinions here guys, so if you were to go out and do a ski season whats the best option for 18/19 year old who is a good skier, has skied 10/11 weeks.
Work as a ski instructor, work for a tour operator, bar work or no work? Possibly not starting until after Christmas, ive heard being an instructor is hell, any personal experiences?
Cheers all

Re:doing a ski season

2 of my daughters friends were in Val D'Isere for a couple of seasons. They tried different jobs, but liked bar work the best. They said that it was great as they could ski all day and work in the evenings.

For an 18/19 year old to work as a ski instructor next winter, they will need to knuckle down and get studying FNO. It's quite expensive and time consuming to qualify to a basic level, where a European Ski School will consider taking them as a trainee.

Re:doing a ski season

I wouldn't call working as a ski instructor hell.... I love it but I suppose it depends on what you want out of your season.

If you want to be a ski instructor then as Bandit says it can be time consuming and expensive. You will also have to be prepared to work with kids and beginners day in day out so you won't get as much personal skiing done as you would if you got a bar job and skied in the day and worked at night. Just anticipate you will spend most of your life on the bunny hill running up and down with no skis on and being very very patient. Its not hell but it is hard work however the sense of achievement for both you and your Client often makes it more than worthwhile IMO! 8)
