one for the ladies?.........shewee

I came across this thing called a shewee and wondered if anyone owned one?

If it works (as lots of the reveiws say it does) it seems it would be great not only for skiing but for camping, walking, running etc.

just wondered if anyone come across anyone who has one?

That is so disgusting I would hate to be on a ski lift with some-one sat next to me having a crafty pee. :shock:

Rose, I dont think it is just for peeing here there and everywhere lol, I am sure the owners of these things would be as discreet as a man having a pee in a bush, or thats the way I pick it up anyway

We had a discussion about these on holiday recently while we were in the gondola. Never seen one, never used one and never plan to!! My daughter said they would be useful at T in the Park :!:

from what i can see they come with a box that you put it in afterwards. I know men whip theirs out and pee anywhere but there is just something that would feel so wrong about doing it in the open. on most of the reviews people used them for things like glastonbury and camping, but if you are spending all day off piste, with no bushes to hide behind it may work. I suppose it depends on how often you get caught out and how good your bladder is.

I've got one which I use at Glastonbury festival, it's great, much better than having to use one of the infamous loos there and no we dont pee in the bush - just take it to the ladies urinal give it a rinse then put back in a sealed bag. Thinking about the state of French mountainsde cafe WC's maybe I should take it skiing too!

I have never used one but I do know people that have.

I believe that they take a bit of practice to be able to use and in fact the two girls I met who had them traveling hadn't actually used them because they had had difficulty when practising in the shower (too much information I know :lol: )

I can see their use however will confess that there are only a few occasions when I wished I had one - and they were when I was using pretty grim in the middle of nowhere and very dirty hole in the floor jobs in Malaysia. I have usually managed at festivals...

This raises 3 interesting pionts:-

1. Why does needing a wee indicate a problem that requires a visit to the doctors - surely this is quite normal? :twisted:

If you ever ski anywhere off the beaten track, there are no convenient toilet stops....hence the adage..."Don't eat the yellow snow"

If you ever ski anywhere you are required to wear a harness or be roped up for a glacier crossing...

ditto the above.

You can't take off the harness, so as a woman (not that you can comprehend this easily), just how do you pee without risking your life?

It's just too easy for men! Get it out and pee!

For women, imagine those holes in the floor, when you're wearing ski boots, the floor is wet, there's nothing to hold on to, and even worse you could be wearing salopettes with dungerees straps... Accurate peeing for women is not easy without all that to contend with!

I think the shewee is a great idea!

Is there any such web site that shows you on a piste map which cafes actually have toilets, and which have holes? I always mark them on my own piste map...

I think it's a great idea, but I don't get how you manage to pee without taking your trousers down. Does it actually fit through your front zip?

The only trouble I have ever had peeing, was in the dark at the side of the road when I couldn't see where it was going and I wet my shoes, and another time in the dark when I accidentally squatted on an ants nest and got trillions of ants in my pants :lol:

Personally, I find when I'm ski-ing that my pee gets re-absorbed from my bladder and I rarely need to 'go' during the day, even when I drink lots. I think it must be a combination of the dry air at altitude and the excessive physical exertion creating a lot of sweat. Pee at altitude seems to be much more concentrated - i.e. more yellow - especially noticeable in the yellow snow patches.

I think you're very probably right (although I meant to say I do pee at lunch time as well, back at the apartment), but judging by the colour of the yellow snow patches around the resort so are a lot of the dogs and blokes as well :lol:

Ally effectively it means that you pee like a man!

I will admit that I wouldn't find the need to use on one on the slopes as a toilet is never too far away however when out and about "up hills and down dales" I can see they could be better than trying to find an illusive bush

I have used cardboard versions of these that can be thrown away, at festivals on several occasions. They save hovering over or sitting on nasty dirty portaloo seats and they reduce the risk of falling into the the infamous Glastonbury long drops! All good in my opinion!
