Re:Les Gets or Les Sybelles

Les Seybelles is a very easy drive, but would take about 2.5 hours from Geneva. I did it in a taxi on the way to ADH, yes they went the wrong way.
Looked VERY quiet round that area which might not be a bad thing. And its higher.

I love Les Gets. Tony is right to mention resort height - it's quite low - but if there's snow, off you go.

Re:Les Gets or Les Sybelles

Les Gets would be quicker and super for a couple of days. Snow will be fine there until April, barring a major catastrophe (these have happened!). Loads of snow and very cold there at the moment.

Bel Alp is a nice 2 star hotel as is Stella Alpina, both close to the slopes and town centre. Could be apartments available for a couple of nights if that's what you want. PM me if you want any more info.

Re:Les Gets or Les Sybelles

Just back from long weekend in Les Gets (our secoond visit for a long weekend). Resort is lovely. Slopes quiet compared to rest of Portes du Soleil. Snow fantastic at the moment so don't worry about resort height if you are going fairly soon! Recommend the Hotel Christiania right on the slopes - only downside might be that they usually ask for a min 3 night stay, but worth a call.

Re:Les Gets or Les Sybelles

I've stayed in both Les Gets & St. Sorlin d'Arves & if offered the choice of a 2 day ski from Geneva would probably choose Les Gets (assuming it wasn't the busy half term period or quite late in the season). Although we usually self cater, I have stayed in the Hotel Stella in Les Gets which was very nice. Which ever you choose, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Re:Les Gets or Les Sybelles

For 2 nights I would choose PSD - nearer to the airport, more nightlife and skiing. Have stopped in St Jean d'Arves and it was really just ok. Les Gets never stayed there as we were in Chatel but even at Easter we managed to get high up to find decent snow. Maybe consider higher up than Les Gets or Morzine where there are good links up to the higher altitudes.

Not sure PSD is nearer the airport, Les Gets is only an hour from Geneva. Never been to PSD, must sat Les Gets is ok, great for Family, not so great for a Wild Weekend away.

Re:Les Gets or Les Sybelles

If you're interested in Saint-Sorlin, one palce to stay is Hotel Beausoleil, which I've booked and am pleased with the rate and the facilities.

There is very little hotel accommodation in Saint-Sorlin - it's a picturesque, quiet little town and skiing is good. Most people stay at tourist appartment complexes. Anyway, in case budget is a concern for one thing, I mention Hotel Beausoleil St. Sorlin as I'm impressed with the price - about 42 Euros per night single use and there is a good jacuzzi and sauna. Though for half board, it takes the place more into the price range you'd expect (I find these resort places are usually the opposite - offering half board for low rates). It's 30 Euros per day extra for half board, breakfast by itself 11 Euros extra.

The hotel's only a 2 star - rooms look comfortable enough, it's good value for a a place with a complimetnary wellness centre. But, more to the point, there's really not much other choice in Saint-Sorlin. Skiing in St. Jean D'Arves is not as good, while the town is not as nice either. Le Corbier & La Toussuire - very good skiing, not really pictureseque due to modern developments, but likeable. Albiez and St. Colomban are a bit isolated. So is Les Bottieres, but you might like that - there's a good tourist appartment place there with sauna and jacuzzi inclusive in the rate (Sybelles has a lot of places where you pay an extra 12 Euros per person per hour to use any of these facilities - watch out - Rive Droite in Saint-Sorlin is another exception, it's inclusive for the sauna).

Re:Les Gets or Les Sybelles

I managed to get driven through Les Seybelles area in a taxi who went the wrong way from Geneva to ADH. I have to say it looked very fragmented and ridiculously quiet, and I have read that the lift sytem linking the areas is in dire need of updating.
