Advice ski to door resort France

We want to try a new ski to door resort to France next year and would like advice on best options. We have skied in la plagne three times, stopping in Belle plagne however would like to try a new resort. We are intermediates with two kids. 8 and 6.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have skied in Val Thorens twice now, and it's definitely ski to the door from pretty much anywhere in the resort. It depends what you are looking for. VT isn't particularly pretty, although I couldn't see anything wrong with it, and it does have a bit of a reputation for noisy drunks in the middle of the night in the centre of the resort, but we didn't hear anything. It is high altitude so you're pretty much guaranteed snow, and of course it connects up with the whole 3 valleys area so there is a huge area to ski.

I would think it was okay for young children - I saw plenty of them when we were there.

What sort of resort are you looking for, and for what price, and what time of year?

VT or Flaine is mainly ski to door from what I know.
The chalet I stopped at in the Altiport area in Alpe d'Huez was also right on the piste.

We stayed at Val Thorens by the crossroads and the main convenience was actually at lunchtimes: if we were near the base we'd just drop into the apartment and sit on the balcony, watching the helicopter shuttle people away after the regular collisions at the crossroads. We saved quite a lot of money and hassle by being able to do this.

Avoriaz is ski in , ski out, car free & only about 1.5 hours from Geneva. Have skied there, from both Les Gets & Chatel but not actually stayed there.

you should try Val Thorens, that would be my recommendation. You could also look at Avoriaz but i think the runs at Val Thorens and 3 Valleys area offer so much more.

Thinking back, I would have said that a fair chunk of Tignes is ski to door. But you would need to check where you book to confirm that.

I think that probably quite a few French resorts would be ski in, ski out, if you picked accommodation in the right place, and went at the right time (because some of the lower runs close early and late in the season).

I have been to La Rosiere and I should say that the Les Eucherts area counts as ski in - ski out. La Rosiere is good for kids, has a pretty good snow record, and the ski area on the Italian side is quite challenging. The only disadvantage is that if the weather is bad they shut the link to La Thuile and you are confined to the La Rosiere side.

We are looking probably xmas to new year this year, probably budget accomodation really. We would like a large ski area as we cover some ground so three valleys is a good call.
