fewer boarders?

Just got back from my weeks skiing in tignes and we thought there were noticeably less snow boarders than before. Anyone else noticed or just a quiet week for boarders while i was there?

Interesting, thinking about it there were fewer boarders than I thought there would be in ADH too.

I was in Tignes 12-19th December and the place was over run with boarders, more than I've ever seen in resort before, I was definitely in the minority as a skier much to my OH amusement!

I commented to my OH about how few boarders there were in Alpe d'Huez, he thought as it was w/c 11th January they were probably all at school!

Having had a week in Soldeu before xmas, and having just returned from a brilliant week in Mayrhofen, I have to agree that there does seem to be a distinct reduction in the number of snowboarders scraping snow off the piste!!!

I can only assume that with the average semi- detached now being worth less than half a million pounds that the 'want it all now', 'silver spoon' generation have suddenly found that the run on the Bank of Mum and Dad is no longer sustainable!!! Shame!

Right then people let's have some order!! I see what happens when I am away for a while, make no mistake!

There's loads of snow to go round, and there was a good amount in Helsinki where I have been for the weekend.

How come -15C there is twice as cold as -15C in the mountains? Bloody freezing it was!!

No more snowboard bashing please!!

Claire's OH's witty remark is down to only 3 stars now, how interesting.

The website must be constantly averaging everyone's star input. If I gave it 5 stars now (only I never rate anyone's post), maybe it would go back up to 4? I wonder how many people have to vote to make the star rating change?

I haven't notice any snowboard bashing here. There was a bit of bashing of those short skis on another thread, but not here (unless I'm too thick to see it of course).

And maybe if you're worried about your snowboard getting bashed, you should get a rental version next time. Ise reckons that rented skis are much tougher, and perhaps the same applies to snowboards? :D :D

Ah, just noticed for the first time there is a little box that says "rate". It makes sense now. Apart from the shrinkage. :shock:

Don't cry. I have now tested the system out and rated your remark with 5 stars (my first ever attempt at rating). If you look in the bottom right hand corner of my new post there should be a box that says star rating. Try marking my post, and you should see the stars appear.

What a good idea :thumbup:

My overall star rating has now gone back up to 4 stars. I wonder how long that will last? I used to be 4 and then it went back down to 3, presumably because someone strongly objected to something I'd written, only I don't know what (because I tend to write an awful lot).

Easily explainable. We know the number of UK tourists has to the Alps has decreased massively this year, and I'd guess Brtiain provides a large percentage of the boarders. Equally more Russians are filling the beds, among whom snowboarding seems to be far less popular.

I'm not sure how conditions are across the Alps either. From what I've heard generally not quite as powdery as the previous two or three years, so I guess more boarders will be going off piste to find powder, and therefore aren't as obvious.
