ski goggle help

ok so I have just bought the helmets and now i need goggles to go with them. I found last year that our bigger style goggles seemed to press down on your nose with the pressure from the helmet and became very uncomfortable. also we bought them from aldi and they were absolutely rubbish! every single pair fogged up and hubbys goggles inside goggle layer just completely fell out. I am looking at getting a smaller type goggle so was wondering if these would be any good?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200392499674&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

and how do i chose what colour lens to get? does it really matter about the lens colour?

With goggles you get what you pay for.

I love Oakley goggles they are the best but come with a price tag.

The lenses are different depending on what light you are going to be using them in.

if you do a quick search on this forum you will find out all you need as this has been covered a few time.

You need to take your helmet somewhere and try on goggles with the helmet. If they are incompatible it will make them very uncomfortable.

I'd bet the reason they 'pressed down' was that they didn't fit well with your helmet.

Cheap, smaller than the majority, and various colours: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-Sunglasses-Anti-Glare-Detachable-Elasticated/dp/B002MTXOA0/ref=pd_sim_sg_3

No idea about quality though.

Re:ski goggle help

Be careful that you don't go the other way and get a gap between your helmet and the top of the goggles. They are cheaper because nobody wants to buy them (at a guess).

Re:ski goggle help

Pablo has it spot on, would never dream of buying goggles without trying with a helmet first. You could end up with them too tight, too lose, big gap so your forehead is exposed & so on.

Re:ski goggle help

You need something that is comfortable but also, in my opinion, something that will last and I always will pay extra to get something that I feel is better quality and in the case of goggles lenses that will interchange either because you scratch them (like I did last year!) or you want different lenses for different light/conditions.

Spent out on some Oakleys and have never regreted it 3 or 4 years down the line.

Re:ski goggle help

Hi I would just say that the most expensive are not always the best , i tried oakley and found them uncomfortable ,sold them on ebay and bought some sinner ones , half the price and they are excellent. Try your helmet on when buying them as other people have suggested . Lense colours are important but a yellow/orange tint is fine unless very bright. Basically but from a shop rather than online as comfort and fit are important and dont worry about names and labels! Hope this helps,

Just because you bought a pair of Oakleys doesn't mean they are all the same. All the Oakley Goggles I have tried (Crowbar/Wisdom/A Frame) are a completely different fit. The Sinner one's might be great for your face but it doesn't mean that they are good for everyone.

Worry about names if you are clumsy, Oakley warranty is excellent and rather than laughing at you for sitting on your goggles and cracking the frame they will probably replace it for a nominal charge. Magic.

my point exactly , just trying to suggest that very point that its worth trying one differnt makes rather than the standard suggestion of oakley! With regards to Warranty , advice is dont sit on them!

Re:ski goggle help

...or drop them or crack them or have someone else sit on them or have them cracked in your luggage. Unfortunately they don't cover them for loss (2 pairs) :(

If there is another brand with a similar warranty and a good quality product at a cheaper price - tell me and I will change allegiance. Until then...

Re:ski goggle help

Some helmets come with a "goggle gasket" in case the goggles are little too small to get a good 'seal' as such.
