You won't cope.
Sorry, would love to say different, but there it is..

Sometimes I can afford to go twice a season, but not this year. What I do is go as late as possible in the season, then it's not so long til the snow melts and you have something to look forward to all winter (when people like you have already been)

Feel for you....

There's no cure...Sorry.

You'll find yourself watching webcams anyway, downloading ski dvd's and going to ski shops to do window shopping. What I also do sometimes is go out in the cold for a long walk and then go to a nice warm pub that has a log fire and order a jagermeister. Then sit there thinking about good times had and the good times to come.

I forfeit all my summer holidays now so that I can have more than one ski holiday.

Right now i am gutted....heartbroken in fact. I look at my gear, my pics, my blisters, my vids and shed a tear!!!

Looks like its the snow dome for me.

I do far too much of that anyway - maybe that's why I can go downhill quickly - as Manny Osborne Paradis said on Ski Sunday yesterday (he does it with a lot more style and control than me though....)

Re:Just home from my first ski trip.......how do i cope now?

I am going from 2 weeks in summer to 1 this year, so I can get 3 weeks skiing in again next season. I have had a long weekend, and a week so far, with another week to come in March, and maybe a long weekend at Easter too.

Problem is, the more you go, the worse it gets and you pine after it more and more.

It is, officially, an illness.

Awwww - bless your wee cotton socks. Know exactly how it feels. It is sooooooooo depressing. I am with Snow4bandit. This season, I have done exactly the same, and I am having 3 ski trips and no summer holidays. My kids are all grown up now though, so can do whatever I please! Your turn will come :D

Re:Just home from my first ski trip.......how do i cope now?

It's exactly how I felt after my last skiing holiday....way back in 1998!!

Since then, small trivial things like buying a house, having a couple of kids etc have got in the way of me and my skiing obsession. Oh, and the wife didn't (and still doesn't) fancy going skiing...anyway, this year the kids are old enough to start skiing and so I put my foot down and we're all going skiing (6th Feb, Niederau). I'm 100% sure the kids will be addicted and I'm hoping to make this an annual thing. I'd love to go more than once a season but my lot have expensive tastes when it comes to holidays and want to see more of the world than just ski resorts!

Oh...and 'squash knees' haven't helped matters either

You just need to take up an equally exciting summer activity! I only started dinghy sailing because I was becoming completely obsessed with skiing.

It worked! I'm off to Schladming on Saturday and I've only just started to get excited. Once I'm back I'll only have to wait a few more weeks before the dinghy racing starts again.

Splendid!

Re:Just home from my first ski trip.......how do i cope now?

Well, I find Eurosport to be a great comfort. The winter sports coverage starts toward the end of October, and with the Olympics this year, there will be major snow overload for me in Feb.

I have really started to enjoy the Sports I guess people would not usually watch, like the Biathlon, Ski Jumping, Luge and Skeleton.

Plus if you get really lucky, they show the summer versions of these events too :) Skiing on roller skis shows off the mountains in all their summer glory.

I also now watch the cycling tours, especially for the mountain stages. It can be a real boost to my day to spot a 10' section of snow still hanging on in the shade in the middle of July up one of the big hills :) And my mates think I'm sad
