how important is a powder skirt?

I bought the kids ski jackets at the weekend. They are Trespass jackets. The only thing is, they havent got the powder skirts. Does it really matter?

We are going to France at the beginning of March, do not intend to do any off piste, intend to just gently cruise round the resort. Hopefully they wont fall over too much! lol

Dont fall over, then it doesnt matter.
If you fall, or ski in deep powder, you will get snow up inside your jacket possibly and then everything gets wet.
Most ski jackets have powder skirts, but its not essential.

When I said it doesn't matter, I really meant that don't worry that the jackets won't be good enough!

They may get a bit of snow up their backs if they fall, but I doubt it'll be much. They'll dry out anyway!

Re:how important is a powder skirt?

If the jackets have good elasticated hems, that can be tightened, It's not so bad. The powder skirt allows for a loose hem on the jacket for unrestricted movement.

Trencher
It doesn't matter at all if your ski-ing, but boarding can be a different matter, espcially in god snow!

Never fastened mine. I quite liked a bit of cooling snow on me from time to time!
