Should I wear a knee support?

I have been skiing on and off since I was fifteen. My last skiing was in March 2009 after a 5 years break.

When I came back from the holiday in March I started to get quite painful knees when walking up and down the stairs or after standing for a while (doing ironing). It lasted almost two months  . My knees were fine during the skiing. I have never had any injury.

I remember I had some pain on the previous skiing trip in 2004 but that was while skiing not after.

Anyway, just wanted to ask should I wear a support braces on my knees? And if yes, what kind of supports?

My next skiing is in March and I would like to not end up having painful knees again.

I am a fairly fit person so I don't think the problem lays in there.

Any suggestions, please?

Neneziss, you might benefit from seeing a Sports Physio. There could be 101 reasons for your painful knees, and it's good to find out what's causing your symptoms.

Only use a support when you get medical advice to do so. There are lots of different types of support and they all cost GBPGBP!

Get the all clear, and have a blast in March :D

Concur with bandit.
You need to take advice as to whether a support will be of any benefit. I once used a knee support for sports thinking it was helping only to be told by a physio that I was making things worse. My symptoms were similar to yours but caused by damaged knee cartlidge so by wearing a support I was holding the upper and lower cartlige faces tight together and excacerbating the problem.
