Ever had the urge...?

I find myself looking out of my window in Glasgow and all I can see is white with continuous snow falling.

Has anyone ever had the sudden urge to take their skis to a hill and have a bit of a blast? :D
I certainly am right now.. (all be it dark now, but there's always tomorrow!)

I've been very tempted but too worried about damaging my one and only pair of skis to risk it :D

Just take them to a hill that you know for sure has grass beneth the snow :D

My thoughts exactly. But when you see snow it does make you want to ski on it.

Really thought about it last night, then remembered how much i paid for them. Im thinking about buying a crap pair for times like this.

We had a good 6 inches last night (if anyones seen the news, Basingstoke seems to be on it a lot, that's where I live) and there's a field outside my house, not much of a slope though, although I do have some old skis in the loft...

Basingstoke was hell!

Was there for a meeting and had to get back to Oxford, got in at 11:45pm. Started to try to get back about 2pm, gave up and waited until anout 9pm before trying again.

Love the snow just not being stuck so far away from, though not much in Oxford when I got back so a little disappointed that I couldn't build the anual snowman with the kids in the morning!!!

A lot of the local children head off to the nearest golf course with their sledges when we get snow round here. The ones without sledges take huge plastic sheets and slide down the hills with 10 plus people on them.

Almost as good as a piste basher :roll: :wink:

We used to use tea-trays when we were kids, and last year my older daughter 'borrowed' a tray from her Uni hall and went out and had a really good time in the snow (and gave the tray back afterwards!) :D

Thats just what she tells you, I'd bet they actually used it in the production of crystal meth to sell on for a healthy profit.

Why would you ski on a dodgy grassy hill when you can do it lift served between an hour and two hours from your door?!

I went down the local golf course for 45 minutes the other day, but some kids on a carpet had destroyed most of the decent stuff at the brow, and the snow was too powdery to make a kicker from so quit pretty quickly. If I had the luxury of a large garden with a slope i think id invest in a rope tow and build a basic homemade snowgun.

I have done this not this time but last time i snowed. i took my blades and my mate took his board it was lot of fun. also with golf courses the grass is kept nice and short so you don't need a lot of snow to ski on and there are no rocks.
