Really? When it is good it is better than anywhere I have skied, when it is bad you'll be wishing you didn't bother.

If you are close enough to take a punt on a weekend or a day, go for it but if you aren't prepared to gamble on snow conditions and weather it isn't ideal.

I used to run ski trips from Manchester and Leeds, up to Cairngorm. Travel overnight Friday and Sunday.

As Pablo says, when it's good it's great, but you could be fighting hailstone, and rock-hopping.

I've only ever skied in Scotland once, in Glenshee;

When Scotland does get snow, here's what happens..

But like the others have said, when it's good - It's really good.. When it's bad - It's really bad..

The time I was there it was alright to be honest, some icy parts and one or two closed runs, but other than that - worth the trip :)

I only went up for the day, I think the day lift pass was GBP26? I can't remember exactly, but it was around that. Not sure how much for the weekend and as for accommodation.. I've no idea, never stayed up there - Sorry!

I said I was going to make it up last season and then the weather prevented me from getting out on the slopes when I was up there. So I am going to make a trip this season. I will be relying on Pabs to give me a heads up on some epic conditions, which will mean a long drive and possibly no sleep for the weekend, but hey - lifes too short.

Scotland: When it's bad, you'll get ice, mud, rocks, and 45 degree sleet in your face with zero visibility. When it's good, you'll forgive it ANYTHING.

No, longy, I'm afraid I don't. You can get a rail fare from Leeds to Aviemore for GBP53 one way, but that woulldn't make sense, given that you can get a return air fare Leeds to Geneva for GBP60, or go Liverpool/Innsbruck for a bit more. You would have a shorter journey to Europe, too.

Even though I live in Scotland, I can ski more cheaply in Niederau, than in Glenshee.

I used to run a one 40 seater coach a week from Manchester and Leeds, we called ourselves Trans Pennine Ski Club. I had to give up my share to go full time skiing. However, in view of your question, I did a search, and the outfit appears to still be going, running summer trips to glaciers.
