Hitting the slopes for the 1st time.

Hey guys, Heading out to Alpe d'huez in Jan to break my snowboarding virginity. Popping over with some mates who are pretty experienced in the snow, whereas i've never attempted it, prefering the warm winter waves and a pair of boardshorts.

Anything you think i should know before i head out....I.e best bars etc.

What date are you out there? Only there are quite a few of us there the week of the 9th Jan.

Where abouts are you staying?

Ahhh! we're out from the 2nd - 9th Jan, and staying at Les merlezes appts in the Berger area.

If you see a tall guy on crutches at the airport then that'l most probably be me.

I second the advice given, get some proper lessons, dont rely on your mates to teach or help you get about. If you can, do a crash course for beginners at a snowdome before you go.
Otherwise it will be you flying home on crutches!!!

Cheers for your responses and welcomes guys. One of the people i'm going with has worked a few seasons out in Meribel I think and used to instruct a bit (which basicaly means he's talking a very good game)and has offered to get me started.

But knowing how clumsy/accident prone/injury prone/silly i am I think I may get a lesson when I get there.
