A horse called Wickham

I couldn't resist having a GBP1 each way on a horse called Wickham Street running in the 2.50 at Fairyhouse.

Did it -

a) win by a distance

b) run like a 3-legged donkey

c) refuse to start because 'I only run in France !'

I was on a football trip to Brighton back in the mid eighties, we had an evening at the dogs and the last race of the night there was a dog
running called "Wickham's lad", not being much of a gambler I put a tenner on it, and it came in last, that was the last time I have ever had a bet. :evil:

Looking down the finishers it's a good job I didn't bet. Gentleman Jim came 9th!
I've been to the horse racing and the dogs and never won a penny. An old work mate used to go to the parade ring and see which horse had the best looking stable girl. He always bet on the horse with the best tottie and he always came away with more cash than the rest of us :shock:
