1" from the end of the season...

Woah, that was very close. I live on the fourth and top floor in this building. In communal areas they have lights on timers so that you switch it on and then it stays on for maybe 45 seconds, allowing even people at the top enough time to negotiate the stairs. Well 3 days from a weeks snow and some extreme relaxing I am in high spirits and bound out to put the bins out. Not processing the fact the lights were on already I started taking the four flights 3 steps at a time. On the last flight and just straightening the legs to jump the entire flight the lights click off. I'm in mid air not able to see my landing, the back of my trainers rub the top of the riser on the bottom step and I land it :!: An inch less distance and I would have broken my ankles

Re:1" from the end of the season...

Thank God for that, how many lives did you just use up? Years ago when I moved in with my Husband he lived on the 4th floor and I always found it difficult with washing, rubbish etc having always lived in a house. So I got into the habit of every norning on my way out to work take a bag of rubbish down out to the communal bins. Except one morning I forgot to put it in the bin........walked nearly a mile to work carrying a bag of rubbish.

Re:1" from the end of the season...

Well, I'm very glad you're okay, Tino, and still able to snowboard.

I had a moment a bit like that, once, when an idiot on a motorbike overtook me, crossing the double white lines, on a nasty bend, just as a fuel tanker came towards us. In that instant all I could think of was my older daughter on the train, whom I was on my way to meet, and of her standing at the station waiting for a mother who wasn't coming ...

Luckily for me, somehow the motorbike managed to fit in between me and the tanker, and we were all okay. Unluckily for him, however, he got stopped at the next traffic lights, in front of me, and I got his number plate and reported him for dangerous driving .

Ally

Around Loch Lomond turend a corner to be faced with two lorries side by side, she had to roll the car into an area few feet from the Loch. Hates cars now..... and planes.
