Well, not quite :lol:

Just finishing off this report (another 1000 or so to go, seem to have been stuck on the same number of words all day :roll: ) and then I am officially off for Christmas, well, until the start of February.

Plenty Scotland ski time :D

Get off of here and get the report done...you can have it done in an hour or so if you put your mind to it! :D Then you can enjoy your Scotland ski time, providing there is plenty of Scotland snow! :wink:

I find it really difficult to write about something I have no particular interest in, especially when it takes me back to Higher Maths :(

If it makes you feel any better, I have 2 exams on Tuesday, which I should be revising for. Pensions & Investments. I want to hack my head off.

:lol: :lol: I had to write a report on Risk Financing last week, was dull beyond belief.

Well Ian, you are probably correct. However, if I had 1000 words to write on 'Great Scottish ski resorts' I don't believe it would be enough. Even if it was just 'Great Scottish ski runs' I think I would need at least 10 times that, whit kin ye do, eh?!

And, I am sad to say, Frith Finlayson, who died in October. Frith qualified as a ski instructor in Switzerland, and later had a huge impact on the development of British skiing, founding the D'Ecosse ski school, and BAPSI, the forerunner organisation of BASI.

So, in terms of his contribution to skiing, I think I would call him a "Great".

He was a really nice guy, an icon of Cairngorm. The Manchester-based ski club in which I was a partner, used to hire our skis from his business.

Holiday time for me starts on Thursday..........which by the way guys is my birthday :D I'm off to New York for a week!! Went last year and 6 inches of snow fell overnight on our first night. It was just beautiful. Freezing cold, but lovely. Meeting up with my sister and neice who both live in the States, so that will be lovely. Not seen them since last year. I'm so excited!! Then when I get home will need to seriously look at booking a ski trip end of January. The good times roll on!!

Holiday time starts for me proabably around wednesday, when hopefully i will have started, and finished my 1500 essay on data mapping, and the +'s and -'s! And then there's something happening friday, involving a coach headed towards france, and 2000 students, can't remember exactly what it is though....

Yeh, came back home to be fed and recover from last night. Back on the horse Tuesday for a potential night in St. Andrews followed by a 21st on Friday. A few classes next week but just trying up loose ends and some exam prep.

Shame I had to hand in on Friday (not digital submission), the skiing in Cairngorms looked epic :(

Yes Cairngorm seems to be shining. Much depends on the temp, there is certainly enough moisture! I want to do some Scottish skiing this year, mainly because my Euro skiing will not be enough.

St Andrews, eh, now that is not too far from chez Mac.

Pablo! I first skiied on Cairngorm before you were born! Karl Fuchs was the head honcho! What do you want to know?

Actually, while all of the above is true, it is just about that long ago since I skiied on Cairngorm, it may have changed!
There was a story that Karl lined up al his instructors, and said "Follow me". Then he schussed the White Lady!

I figured you may know your way around. I have never skied Cairngorms with the Coe being only an hour away and Nevis Range being an hour and a half!

Yeah, I am much the same, hour and a half to Glenshee, with Cairngorm two and a half hours.

But whereas I have, in the past, mostly given away Scottish skiing, (only since I have lived in Scotland!), I now want to do more, particularly in the areas where I have not done, Glencoe, the Lecht, and to renew with Cairngorm.

When I was with Trans Pennine Ski Club, (late sixties), we travelled from Manchester every Friday to Cairngorm, 13 hours then!"

I break up on 23 Dec until 4 Jan, back to work for 3 weeks and then off on my hols. Yippeeeeeeee!

Elijay have a great time in New York, we hope to do the same this time next year for hubbies 50th and my 40th birthdays. Even better if it snows!

I hope to god I dont do on my hols what I have just done in the garden. Had a fall worse than any I have had whilst skiing. Wet leaves and wet decking I went flying, my ankle is throbbing, my wrist hurts like hell and I wont be sitting down comfortably for a while. :cry: Next I will be gardening in my helmet, wrist guards and padded sallos :lol:

Had to resort to bag of peas on my knee, very swollen. Bruises coming out a treat now. The worst is I have a 10 hr working day to-morrow, on my feet.

What about going to Casualty for an X-ray? My older daughter broke her arm just falling down on the carpet in the house, and a friend of mine broke her wrist falling on an outside path, like you did.

I hope it gets better soon - you're not about to go ski-ing are you?

No need for Xray, nothings broken. Not skiing until January, when I will probably add a few more bumps and bruises.
