What to rent?

Going on a short trip to Andorra next week, and will be renting skis for the first time in a while.
I will be skiing pistes only I would imagine. Any recommendations what of the new skis I should have a play with? I was thinking Atomic Nomad Blackeye ti?

Tony,
Why don't you give the hire shop a ring and see what they've got in stock? The places I've hired from specifically say they can't supply particular skis - i.e. you can only have what they've got.

Ally

Re:What to rent?

You should try the Blackeye without the Ti, the Ti is just the standard Blackeye reinforced with titanium.

Interesting. Every ski shop I went into this season tried to flog me these, and insisted on the Ti spec.

I guess I will make a choice from what stock they have in, but I would expect them to have Atomic or Rossignol, so might try out some Bandits if not.

Or is there some Spanish ski company I havent come across yet?????

Ti spec = probably more expensive and with a stiff(er) flex you probably don't need. In some of my instructor exams the course conductor was on the standard Blackeyes and swore they were the best skis out (helps when you are sponsored by Atomic...), said they were quite soft longitudinally but very torsionally stiff. He also had the Crimsons and only took them out on 'deep' days ;)

They are also exceptionally light (not skied them, just had a fondle) unless this has changed in the last 2 seasons, hmmm

I still quite fancy a pair of the older ones for Scotland skiing 8)

You'd be better off ripping a couple of panels out of your garden fence if you want to ski Scotland.

Re:What to rent?

Not true, for Cairngorm, & Glenshee, most of the time, torsionally stiff skis would be a good idea. Probably Glencoe too, but maybe not the Lecht.

Re:What to rent?

Well, if you are Skiing pistes only, I would definitely suggest you try a pair of Volkl Tigersharks or Racetigers.

I had a pair of racetigers out in Val D'Isere for a few days last season, and thought they were superb.
