Reading on Holiday

Does ayone do much reading whilst awy skiing/snowboarding?

Using the trains mainly and travelling alone frequently, I can plough through books. Also nice to sit in the bar at the end of the day with a wee nip of something warming and read a little.

Just been on Amazon and bought 4 books for my trip on the 12th December. Probably get through 3 of them.

Storms Of Silence - Joe Simpson
Crime - Irvine Welsh
K2: Life and Death on the World's Most Dangerous Mountain - Ed Viesturs
Seven Years in Tibet - Heinrich Harrer
Re:Reading on Holiday

Never really find the time, up early morning to be one of the first on the lift, off the slopes about 5, off the the bar, back to the room to get ready for the night then have some fun. Thats usually how ever day is to be honest.

Re:Reading on Holiday

I never read on ski hols only summer hols. Used to take a book for the airport wait helped to calm the nerves. Since buying a nintendo DS thats what I tend to use now. Just sudoko, solitaire crosswords etc.

Re:Reading on Holiday

I take "The All Mountain Skier", Mark Elling. It's the best ski technique book I have come across, and I have a fair collection.
I do take whatever I'm reading at home, but rarely read more than half a page, before I nod off, into skiing dreamland.

Tino, I have read Seven Years in Tibet many times. I found it to be quite a humbling book. We tend to think of ourselves as mountain men, but this guy walked 1500miles through Tibet, without beaing able to speak the language, avoiding adverseries, and then when he met the Dalai Lama,.... well I don't want to spoil the ending! The current Dalai Lama ithe same one.

Re:Reading on Holiday

The only things I read on a ski holiday are the football scores back home and the lift opening times.
I always take a book with me for the journey, and maybe a couple of pages whilst nodding off in bed but generally, no.
I do read a lot more on a summer holiday, but thats a different kind of break altogether.
