What to take up the mountain?

Or more precisely, what do I NEED to take up the mountain? It's been a while since i last went skiing so i'm appealing to your charitable advice again! :D

So far I've got -goggles (wear sunglasses usually), hat (buff thing), camera, sun block (not keen on the panda look!), glove liners, a cheeky bar of chocolate and that's just about it.

I don't really want to have to wear a ruc-sack but noticed that some of you do- so what do you take to warrant it? I was thinking about a bbq and some sausages- how cool would that be!

Have I missed something obvious and am therefore likely to die up there?

Re:What to take up the mountain?

You laugh at a BBQ and sausages, well we actually do take sausages and some rolls in our rucksacks. In Finland every so often is a Kota with a blazing fire and a kettle and toasting forks and we warm up, cook our sausages and have hot dogs. Heat up some hot berry juice, get warm and then off we go again.

Re:What to take up the mountain?

Depends what you up to if you gonna do a a bit of hiking to get some nice lines you might want to pack ski skins to stop you falling back and some snowshoe bindings, also another good thing to take with you if you have good ones are some sort of comm's e.g walkie talkie

I take: Camelback otherwise I "forget" to drink water (for that read can't be arsed to get the bottle out of husband's rucksack), camera, walkie talkie, ipod, sunblock, lip balm and sunglasses. But I'm a girl so you won't need half of that stuff ;)

Sunglasses, goggles, iPod, wallet, dual sunscreen/lipbalm, gloves, camera, hat & cigarrettes.

All of which have a pre-designated and anatomically conforming pocket to be placed into.

BTW, the Super G from Aspen is a bit lively.

My watch also has a compass, barometer and altimeter on it which would no doubt be useful hould I get lost or stuck and hd to communicate my location.

Both are in my wallet. On the insurance note, I found out yesterday that I have been wasting my money. I am fuly insured anywhere in the world for health, loss or damage of equipment and 3rd party, I even have accident insurance so I dont have to claim on my medical and lose the rebate. Thinking this was all to good to be true I asked about what would happen should I need a whirlybird ride, oh thats covered up to 10k as well. So I have increased that to 25k and I will never buy ski insurance again.

Re:What to take up the mountain?

I take a backpack with me, though it's a pretty slim one. It will have my mobile, keys, wallet, penknife, extra layers of clothing, camelback, lunch (baguette and chocolate), glove liners, lip balm/sun block, and sometimes a GPS unit. It has an expandable front strap-thing for my helmet if it's ridiculously hot, and has ski carry straps for when I'm hiking for some snow :D

I am pretty sure it is a occasional forgotten item. Not too bad when you can just walk back over the road to your room and retrieve it, but if you are a ski bus ride away....

This leads me an aligned point, methodology at the end of the ski day. People often go out in the evening, wearing their ski jackets, but don't want the day trivia. Our method is a ski pile. Only the stuff that goes in your anorak goes on the pile. In the morning, we do a double check. Sure most people do the same.
