Boot innersoles- advice please

I haven't ski'd for about 10 years other then an odd few times on the dry slopes, and i'm going away in a few weeks.

During a recent 'dry slope refresher' my feet were aching a bit so i was wondering about getting some innersoles for when i go away.

Is this even possible with rental boots (i've seen that innersoles are 'cut to fit' ) or is it even worth it (30 odd quid +!!)?

BTW i do plan on getting my own boots but seeing as its the other half first time skiing, i need to check she gets on with it and that we'll be going regularly- she better had!!

Any advice would be great- cheers

Re:Boot innersoles- advice please

For about GBP30 you can buy some Superfeet, Green or Blue footbeds. They will help to stabilise your foot in the ski boot. Yes, you can cut them to size for yourself, and they will sit in a rental boot in place of the one the shop has put in there (which are normally very squishy).

You can also pay to get some proper moulded footbeds from a ski boot seller. You will pay more, but get good firm customised support, and again, these will move from boot to boot with you. If you have flat feet, or a high arch, or your ankles roll outwards (or inwards) it may be worth spending on footbeds now to get the feet stable and supported.

Cheers Bandit

I'll give them a better look then.

To my shame, at first i was thinking about some of those gel ones you get from the supermarket!! I was a bit gutted when i googled innersoles and found out they did 'proper' ones and they cost GBP30! I've now lost count of the number of times i've said "right, we've got everything" only to think of something else and relieve myself of another chunk of cash! Never mind, it'll be worth it.

Re:Boot innersoles- advice please

I have a problem with my right knee, and when I bought my ski boots 4 years ago I spent GBP30 on having custom footbeds made for them, which are removable. Best GBP30 I ever spent - I can ski all day in comfort now, whereas without them I could only do an hour without bad backache!

If you have any kind of problem that needs your foot to be stable then it's worth the investment.

I second that question!

I saw Superfeet in snow and rock last week but didn't want to buy them without checking they'd be worth it. Looks like some more moths will be escaping from my wallet again!

Thanks for all the advice everyone.
