Thee month to go skiing?

Hey all, just wondering.. What's the best month to be going skiing?
Location? Anywhere really, but the past two years i've gone skiing in January and don't get me wrong, only two of those days were slightly dull.. one of which was a complete white-out and high winds. All the rest were scorching sun, lovely snow.

But what is the best month to catch the very best of fresh snow and peak sun? :)

Also - An addition to this thread.. How the hell does one learn to ski powder?
I've read so many stories and obsessions on this forum and i'm keen to learn it :)

Thanks!

Thee month to go skiing?

Best month? Probably no solid good month, February and March are probably your best bets with regard to depth and consistency of snow (IMV). April can be warm and dry or cold and powdery, just depends. January has a reputation as being cold and kinda dry but a couple of my best days ever have been in January. Just depends, last year was epic from October in Austria although this season things aren't kicking off until a lot later.

Ski powder=get lessons.

As Pablo no solid month End of Feb early March best for snow and sun, powder last longer in January. As for powder lessons just get in it off the side piste to start, the main thing imho is to gain enough speed before trying short turns, a few tumbles and it comes together.

Goff

Re:Thee month to go skiing?

Baillie353,
I have just booked off piste lessons with esf 1550 Courchevel for my daughter in February. It costs 190 euros for 2 hours/day for 6 days, or 280 euros for 4 hours/day for 6 days. You have to have had at least 4 weeks ski-ing experience and be able to parallel turn on red and black slopes.

Hope this helps,

Ally

Ohh that sounds pretty good actually!
I hope your daughter has a great time.

I can parallel turn on red and black slopes so that isn't a problem and overall i've had more than 4 weeks skiing experience so that's all good.

Thank you for the info :)
