I tried really hard to like Bloc Party. A few tracks from the 1sy album were ok, Helicopter in particular, but I hate his voice and the 2nd album was worse than dreadful. They are the worst band I have ever heard live, sounding like a drunk cat playing the bagpipes with an elastic band round its testicles.

Iggy Pop in Spain last year was the worst live performance I have ever seen. However the Editors and REM made up for it.

I've seen Bloc Party once or twice, don't really remember. Pretty sure they were good ;)

Chili Peppers were absolutely horrific, the Strokes are probably the best I've ever seen.

I saw REM in Tallinn a few years back, random place to go to a gig.
I also like Editors, a bit, if you know what I mean. Some of their stuff is great, some of it I dont like. I am liking what I have heard from the new album. He's another one with a marmite voice.

As for Iggy, he should have been put down years ago. People try to tell me that The Velvet Underground were good, and I refer them to the local hospital's psychiatric wing

Whilst you're in the mood for that, have a good old listen to an old German fave of mine, the first Alphaville album. An actual work of art.

Seriously? They did "Big In Japan" but some of the stuff on that album was fantastic. Seriously, download it if you can and have a listen en route tomorrow.

Muse are one group I haven't seen that I really want to. So badly, they were a bit dull on the television last night but their live performance at Wembley was epic, youtube it. Especially Plug in Baby which is one of my favourite tunes.

Some-one I work with while he was on holiday in Torquay earlier on in the year ended up at a free concert. He came back and told me he had seen this terrible band called Muse. I could'nt believe it, its the one band I would love to see.

There will be some Techno-Volk-Polka-Yodel, some Chinese traditional folk music to chill to, some 12bar of the Quo variety, some easy listening stuff.

I doubt there will be any metal on it and certainly it will be devoid of X-factor material.

Got a lot of that stuff tbh. Was looking for something more up to date. Arcade Fire, Kasabian, Doves....thats my kind of thing.

Doves "Sea Song" is one of the best ever.
Tony, you must know "So Here We Are" by Bloc Party. Very different from their usual stuff, in my top three of all time. (Actually quite like Sea Song.)
Reading back through the thread I've noticed comments about REM iive. I watched them before they'd broken here with Bono standing next to me 8)

Yep Sea Song is good. The Cedar Room was the song that got me into them, but its nothing like their best. Caught by the river is wonderful.
Not keen on Bloc Party, although the first album had some decent tracks on. I hate his voice. So here we are has a really complicated beat to it, but its a good song.
Not sure if I mentioned it but I saw REM in Tallinn. I also saw U2 play in The Boulevard Club in 1979 before they had released a track.

that's pretty impressive. I thought I was the only fan of "Boy" and "October". Don't like them now though :evil:

I did like Snowdon, but thought there was just one lyric that was not as strong as it might have been. The boy surely could not have been genuinely and strongly attracted to a particular situation.

OTOH, I did pick up a line that has modified a song I am working on, just now.

I dont like U2 now, all commercial and poppy. In it for the money.
Boy and October along with War are by far their 3 best albums.
Drowning Man is an amazing song.

I am 36 and am a total gadget freak, i have an iphone.

As for my music...well. As a child of the 80's i am fully stocked on that early electronic stuff but i also have the likes of Abba on there too!
My tastes are so varied it is unbelievable. I started the day on the new MoS compilation and finished on Paul Simon.

Current favs are:

Matchbox 20
Black eyed peas
James Morrisson
The Script
Amy Macdonald.

I think only the black eyed peas may make it to a Ski playlist tho!

I have tons of other stuff tho that is more suitable so i will need to work on it.

On a side note, to those that have mentioned the likes of Muse, well check out the soundtrack to the movie 'New Moon'.....it has some great tracks on it.
