Well,
It makes me feel a lot better about paying GBP300 each for return tickets on the direct Eurostar train to Moutiers.

I expect the half-term flights sold early on were a lot cheaper than GBP400.

I think anyone still looking to ski at Feb half-term would be better keeping an eye open for a last minute package bargain, rather than paying GBP400 for a return flight.

but they do have a "low season" "mid season" and "high season" which means they probably just have 3 dates in the high season part!

I had a look at their website as well, and they don't give prices - you have to complete a form on-line and send for them.

I find it really annoying when they do that. I like to see all the prices for all the different room types and dates in one simple table, and then I can compare them with other options. Our holiday cottages are advertised like that - in a paper brochure, and on the internet and you can see prices for each individual week and whether or not the cottages are available (I'm afraid our cottages double in price for the summer holidays, but it's a simple case of supply and demand).

I agree, if there is not a chart and you have to fill in a form for a quote then I simply don't bother. Having said that, these guys have put their 'from' prices and they include lift passes so on the face of it they seem quite reasonable http://www.otp.co.uk/otp/resorts/saasfee/ so they might be worth a call. Not that I'm interested at the moment...got two hols booked and if all goes to plan will be booking a March USA trip. :D

This my favourite restaurant ever, great food, a bit pricey but not poncy but if you are ever up this way pay it a visit you will not be disappointed, it is run by Richard Hughes

With a bottle of bubbles it will work out at about GBP60 each an thats really not bad for the quality of the whole experience, you get all the fussy stuff like sorbet between courses, but its a real experience 8)

Blod and I booked return flights last January with Lufthansa for February 2010 half term: GBP99 each. We booked the same for New Year at virtually the same time, Birmingham to Munich, for Niederau. I'm a teacher so have always been limited to expensive flights. A GBP399 ticket at half term is NOT a bargain! L.

Why don't you put a recent ski video up, just to play fair, so I can see how young you really are when you're ski-ing? I always feel like a teenager again, until I hit the ground.

In fact, I think it would be really interesting to see everyone ski-ing on video. I sort of guess how people ski, from the way they type, and I may be totally wrong.

"It's a case of supply and demand" as you say.(sorry, not sure how to work the quote button). Many seem to complain about the rise in prices for half term etc - not you obviously! It's a fundamental basis of business, I'm afraid, and TOs aren't any different. If everybody wants anything when everybody else does, it's gonna cost :roll:

I have been thinking about how I might attach my Lumix digital camera to me, and do a run down the Mercanweissl, without damaging either me or the camera.

I guess thats the point Ally. Most times, I just ski non-stop top to bottom. If I'm with folk, we wait for each other, then go. 42 years of skiing, and I hardly have any action photos. Heaps of skiing though!

I'd love to see a video of you ski-ing.

I think we could all do with some lessons on how to use this website more effectively. I'd like to be able to put photos up, and I'm not at all sure which smiley means what - is there a list somewhere?

I am going to watch Snowb4ndit's video on facebook when my daughter gets up and shows me how to do it (she's registered not me). My daughter was out last night with her friends doing whatever her age group do in pubs and clubs on Saturday night, and she's still asleep.

Nothing to be embarrassed about we ski because we enjoy it, technically after all the years I have skied I'm not the greatest in the world by far I just enjoy it. I am lucky to ski a couple of weeks per year
so Improvement will always be slow. Still I'm happy where I am, I'll get the wife to Video me on our next holiday so you can all have a laugh. :D

That would be great if you could get your wife to video you ski-ing. At least you will look nice and slim in your video now :D

I didn't think anyone would laugh in a nasty sort of way, at anybody's ski-ing videos - or I wouldn't have put mine up :shock:

I don't think there's a perfect skier anywhere. Even the top international ones have coaches to help them improve. And I'm sure we all ski with our own style, which reflects not only our physical body shape but our personalities as well.

I'm happy where I am, I don't want to enter any competitions or anything. I just want to go to the top of the mountain and ski down without falling over...That I can do so I am happy! :D

If I was younger and more fit I would definitely try a bit of freestyle! :lol:

Congratulations on being able to ski all the way down without falling over! I fell over twice in Tignes, in only 3 days - no videos of me falling over - sorry :lol:.

I must admit, though, that I do like to push myself a bit. I am hoping that I get to do slalom training in Feb, but the price negotiating with the ski school is taking rather a long time, and it may be too difficult for me.

I just watched Snowbandits video, looks like you are a competent relaxed skier, same as me. No one is perfect, and we could all improve but I am the same as you - I want to go up a lift and down a slope or something covered in snow, and I can.
Liking the gear, red and white looks well smart. Front cover of last seasons S&R catalogue....?

She's got it up on facebook, but she has to accept you first as a friend before you can see it. So, unless you're already on her list of 'friends', you have to ask her very nicely if you can see her video.

What about your ski videos? Surely you must have lots. Have you got them up somewhere where we can see them?

I've noticed something Ally, which is that whenever you talk about skiing, you talk about falling over. Do you do much of that yourself?
