Sad day - end of an era

Sorry this is not ski related, but today is the end of an era. Darren Ferguson has been sacked by Peterborough United. I am quite sad about that

Paying the price for his dad's outbursts (he is AF's son?) or just poor results?

Another sad day when a cheating effing foreigner brings our beautiful game in the mire.
Eggnog is an abosolute disgrace.........

However, I did hear that 2012 Olympic Committee were at Anfield and rated it as a 9.6.

Re:Sad day - end of an era

I know that I am just really annoyed. I was in Munich and learnt we were 2-1 up and then got back at 11pm to hear that.
Then here Rafa try and defend the dive.

Effing ridiculous.

Anyway rant over.
Re:Sad day - end of an era

Tentative link, but Benitez is the manager who should be out of a job.
Fergie Junior had done brilliantly getting us into the Championship. Short sightedness by the club, although to be fair recent results have been bad and we are bottom.
My request would be Curbishley, but have a feeling it will be Peter Taylor and his journeyman band of has beens. No thanks.

Re:Sad day - end of an era

There is a degree of irony here. In AF's early days at Old Trafford, he was supported by the board, and has subsequently repaid their faith many times over.

Darren Fergusson's record is reminiscent of Clough.

My money would be on DF using his abilities to great effect in the future.

With the greatest respect, we are talking about Man United who were never close to losing top flight status under AF, and Peterborough United who have only once been at this level before.
DF's record is also totally unique and not really reminiscent of anyone to be honest. He was supposed to be on a 5 year plan and building for the future but it seems staying in the Championship is the new goal and he has paid the price.
AF also won a trophy just as he was about to be sacked. Had he not won it, he would not be there now and English football would have been so totally different.
DF won 2 successive promitions and kept his faith in the non league players he had made a team out of, who are now somewhat out of their depth at this level. I guess someone had to bite the bullet in the chairmans eyes, as he does not want to be playing Hartlepool, Tranmere and Northampton when he could be playing Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesboro......

It is however still a sad day, and I sincerely wish Darren well wherever his future takes him. I dont think it will be long before he turns up again, possibly on the east coast somewhere....?

Fingers crossed for Alan Curbishley replacing him at Posh, but my money is on Peter Taylor - Barry Frys old mate. No thanks, no place in football for dinosaurs like that.
