Re:Geneva to Tignes hire car

Hi,

I always go from the french side (it's just that i have always done this ),the only real difference is that if you hire a car from the swiss side, you will not be charged the 30euro "Vignette" to travel on the 3 mile stretch of swiss motorway going back into Geneva if you take a wrong turn going back to the french side.

Also using car hire on the swiss side ,in winter you are given snow tyres and chains in with the price, again on the french side you are not unless you request them.

For car hire i always use Autoeurope 0800169 9797 , www.auto-europe.co.uk .

If you do use the french side to avoid the Vignette, when travelling back down the A41 from Lake Annecy (you can avoid Annecy by just staying on the motorway) ,take the A410 on the next Paege from Annecy, and after a while nearing Geneva you will see signs for Telipherique du Saleve, when you start to see these signs look for the A411 turn off and this will take you into Geneva via the bottom end of the lake avoiding the Vignette.

If you want a route map PM me and give me your postal details and i will send you directions etc (but will not be until after the 17th of November as i will be in Bourg Saint Maurice until then.

All the best

jon
