Attn. Ian Wickham: Cortina, St Moritz, Grindelwald and the Dolomites

In the Zermatt thread you suggested some alternatives, why would they be suitable?

From the other thread we need,

Ease of access
Range of accommodation options
Reasonable nightlife
Range of skiing terrain from Beginner-->Easily accessible off piste terrain (guides available)

Feel free to add to these (just off the top of my head).

Here we go then ................ :D

Cortina d'Ampezzo: fantastic scenery, Italian, Plenty of off slope activities, lack of queues, people watching.
St Moritz : Great scenery, the cresta run, plenty of off piste activities, not as expensive as people think.
Grindelwald: Again great scenery, old village feel, Quite apres ski, link to Wengen, Murren worth a visit.
Dolomites : Scenery, Sella Ronda, attractive villages, extensive terrain.

There are few examples why the places are on my list 8)

Re:Attn. Ian Wickham: Cortina, St Moritz, Grindelwald and the Dolomites

I'd defo be keen on Dolomites, but think we'd be best off in Arabba or Selva tbh.
St Moritz - way out of my price bracket, and I'd go mad taking an hour to get to the slopes in Grindlewald.

Re:Attn. Ian Wickham: Cortina, St Moritz, Grindelwald and the Dolomites

I thought Grindelwald was a good shout. Getting the train between runs is so much more civilised than cramped cable cars or windy chairlifts. It is also steeped in history. Having just spent the day looking at a sun dappled Matterhorn, there are few sights that compare to the North Face of the Eiger. Also there is Wengen, and a host of other activities of those who might want.
