Get together for those up North!

Hi guys! I am noticing that there is going to be a together down south. Sadly I can't go! So how about meeting up for us northerners. I live in Newcastle and don't mind travelling a bit and am wondering if anybody else thinks it is a nice idea. Get to put faces/personalities to names etc. I am open to any offers/suggestions within reason! Cheers, sue

If you organise it Sue I'll try to get there, can
do beer, and/or skiing, so how about xscape in castleford or gmex in manchester, or even scotland?

Don't get me started on stereotypes! Just for the record I do not have a flat cap, own a whippet or talk with a funny accent! I am admitting nothing! I can do Castleford or Chill Factore and everybody is welcome- southerners and northerners! Just bear in mind that I am not the best skier- but what I lack in ability I more than make up with my enthusiasm! Bit scary really! This is only feasible if a few of us are game. Or I will just be Jimmy No Mates skiing by myself!

Trust me it's not the easiest thing in the world to organise and try and get people to agree to a set day, we will just have to see how many turn up on the 22nd :lol:

Im in if beer is involved and if jam butties are on the list Im defo up for it! Jams arite treat for us Tup North.

Weve moved on from flat caps and whippets now its trackies tucked into white socks and blue wkd. A Bull dog is always a plus and lets people know ya ard. :-)

Ive got 2 cats though so im not ard :shock:

I am sure alcohol can be involved! Not too sure about the jam butties though! If enough people fancy it we then can start thinking when would suit most of us. I only work part time so it is quite easy for me to arrange something either during the week or even at the weekend but I am guessing it will get busy then. Don't like people getting in my way when I am doing my parallel turns!

Has anybody been to both Castleford and Chill Factore and which did you prefer? I have been to Castleford a couple of times and wasn't overly impressed. Felt like skiing in a fridge and I was freezing! Have felt much warmer skiing in heavy blizzards. Also the lift attendant was very rude and was in danger of having a nasty accident with my ski pole!

I also have a cat so I am not that hard either! Sssshhh! Don't tell anyone!

Not actually skied at Castleford but have been there a couple of times just for a look around and must say that the Chill Factore would be my choice, and having skied there on numerous occasions it's been enjoyable, plus the facilities are relatively new'ish. But location wise if it's to attract as many from 'oop North as possible then people may say Castleford is more accessible ...

Havent skied at Cas, but have been into the place and it doesnt look great. Have skied at Chill Factor, its longer so you'd get more out of it. I didnt enjoy the indoor experience much, but it was better than not skiing I guess.

You can leave Kes outside at t'Chill FactorE, they have a tree for people from Barnsley to leave their Kestrels in.

Hartley was indeed a yam yam. And a bit of a nutter too. I think Roland Rat was also from Burr Ming Gum

I'm in on a northern Jet2Ski meet up but would prefer Chill Factore to Castleford really. I'm from Lancashire (like MFC)and proud of it. I live close to the Pennines, the Trough of Bowland (the Queens favourite AONB)& South Cumbria where I can be found walking the Wainwrights and sailing a boat on Windermere most weekends. Oh and did I mention I'm less than a two hour drive from the Snowdonia National Park and the beautiful North Wales Coast. The only downside is that when I go skiing I have a 5 hour drive to Dover....

The trouble with Oop Norf is that it is actually a very big area! I'd be interested in a Castleford meet up - Manchester would be too big a distance for me.

Just for the record I am a true Geordie without a Geordie accent! Bit gutted as I love the Geordie accent! Elocution lessons should be banned!

Good news that some of you think this is also a nice idea. But as Wickers has said organising such a get together isn't plain sailing! So if you fancy it let me know when is a good time and we can see what we can arrange. I am very lucky as my sister lives in Manchester and I can be totally flexible. Just going to have to work on those thighs sooner than I thought- should have taken up bowling- much less hassle!

Clubman- I can also do Castleford as well as Chill Factore. How up north are you?

I'd be interested in a get together at either venue. I'm based on Teesside but I don't mind travelling. My only concern would be getting time off work midweek, as I start a new job at the beginning of November and don't want to push my luck asking for holidays right at the start. A weekend wouldn't be a problem though. :D

I have been to Cas a few times but have never been to the Chill Factore, I think they are about the same distance from our house its just that ones outside Yorkshire. Still I'm sure I can find my passport for the day.

Right! About 8 of us have said maybe so let's go for it. Firstly, it suits more of us to go to Castleford than Chill Factore. So how about a two hour ski sess at Castleford one Saturday in November? I can do any Saturday so I suggest people let me know if they are interested and when they CAN'T go and hopefully we can arrange something for definite. Probably easier to send me a private message. Afterwards maybe we can have a drink/something to eat- I have twice eaten at the Italians there and it is very good! well, it is a four hour round trip, with my 12 year old in tow, so have to make it worth her while! I'm a Lincolnshire Yellow Belly , live in Nottinghamshire but Sheffield is my nearest city. I also spend a lot of time in Norfolk but could probably do Castleford at a weekend in November!

Apart from Eggman, is anyone still planning to meet up at Castleford tomorrow? I've kept the day clear & plan to go up with OH & 11 year old & should be able to be there 1.00pm ish. If so, where is everyone meeting up & at what time? (We won't be skiing).

From Cairngorm website:

We will open for snowsports this weekend, weather permitting. We will open the Ciste tow later in the morning and Ptarmigan tow from 10.00.

We are still going and my daughter has decided Dad can pay for an hours boarding :shock: don't worry she won't want to talk to us when we get there )For those that are skiing maybe we could meet near where you put your boots on? Or bring a small poster saying J2SKI on it?. I'll put our sign on the whippits collar )

Have just realised I have no ski gear here, its all nice and clean in St G. Might have to wear some of the O/H clothes if you know what I mean )

Enough pow to ski at my house today, :-) if only I had some skis at home. Still will have to make do with Cas. Wife will not let me wear her clothes outside the house :( Have managed to round up some old gear am setting off in 3/4 of an hour.

Well the great J2Ski Northern meet did take place tha knows! Both Eggman & myself, with our families turned up! We'd never met, never spoken to each other & hadn't arranged a specific meeting point, but amazingly we did spot each other! We all had a drink & a good long chat in the bar & plan to meet up in St. Gervais over Christmas when we happen to be out there at the same time. Thankfully, our whippets were remarkably well behaved too )

Hopefully if we do it again, a few more will be able to make it.

Nice to meet Salski and family, had a hour on the slopes more than enough for me.I took some photos but didn't put the flash on so they were blurred so no good :( Then went to ASK for late lunch early tea :)IMHO dripping is much to good for waxing skis )
