The Moselle area of France

It looks like Baden-Baden will have to be left to another time, as I have said before at the end of my summer hols I intend to find the memorial of my great great uncle who died at the Somme,
to allow a bit more time at the memorial I will have to push a bit further on from Baden-Baden, so I have been looking at the Moselle area of France which is around the Metz area, has anybody out there have any experience of the area or more importantly could you recommend any hotels.

I have a friend that has spent the last year living in/near Metz. I will ask when he gets home tomorrow.

We have now booked the hotel in Metz so we are having to leave Baden-Baden to another year, thanks for all your help... 8) 8)
