Perfect pet for skiers

snowb4ndit has just acquired a tortoise called Oswald from Scunthorpe she is obviously totally mad ...however it is a perfect pet for skiers because it hibernates in the winter leaving one free to pop it in the fridge and head for gatwick...(only redeeming feature really!!)

OMG, didn't know you could still get them as pets. We had one when we were kids. Kept "Harold" in a shoe box filled with straw.

I think hibernating Tortoises may still need AIR to breathe, so the fridge may not be the best place :shock:

Yes a tortoise is a perfect pet for skiers because of the hibernation period but how very dare you say it is he's only redeeming feature...

He is adorable and could probably ski better than you if he tried!

how would you set the bindings? or maybe just clip him into one ski set to his shell size...

Yes but the downside is he wakes up in the summer when you want to go on your hols.

That's not a problem when you have three grown up son's who are NOT teachers and therefore don't have six weeks off to go on holiday...always someone here throughout the year!

A fridge is recommended for hibernation because you can regulate the temperature, but you are right bandit, they need air so you have to open it on a regular basis.

I'm quite glad I'm not a Tortoise. I would not enjoy life in the fridge, with some inconsiderate sod, turning on the bloody light at all hours, while I was trying to get some decent sleep :lol:

These two certainly seemed to enjoy playing out in the snow

Current model has more sense and prefers to keep wrapped up warm when it's grotty outside

The only good horse is the one from the Lloyds TSB advert and even then I'm not sure how good that is. Nothing worse than getting in to a car covered in horse hair :evil:

I'm beginning to think that putting those photos up was a bad idea :(

Anybody else want to turn my prized pet into PVA or a steak whilst we're at it?

And Pablo, yes I agree - horse hairs are a pain in the ar$e, particularly about now when they're moulting! :twisted:

Yes, I'd love one (even if it does wreck the house!), but sadly my OH doesn't like cats so I think I'll have to stick with the large furry creature above.
And I think if the moggy disappeared, Little W may just stop talking to you…?? :lol:

Oswalk is gorgeous, i wanted one a few years back but couldnt afford all the licence etc you are very lucky

He's actually wild and from the Peak District, much like myself :lol: There's a few grey cats here, it's more common than the UK for some reason.

We dont have a cat but might as well do. Next doors cat loves my OH he waits for him to come home and shoots in the door. He even goes out in the workshop with him. I think if next door dont pay more attention to him he will odopt him.
